Steve-o, we strapped her down on the standard 4x8 trailer. First time she's taken that ride. The wife was surprisingly accommodating! I'll have her apart today. I noticed that the chain side spacer was backwards but that doesn't explain the walking carrier or its jamming. Things seem a bit loose up front as well so the sprocket cover is the first thing off. It can use a light polish anyway. Original chain and sprockets - can use a good inspection.

For those with interest in the DynaS, I have read that the red power wire is a weak link. All the wires, frankly, are of narrow gauge. I have found that if I tighten the cover, sometimes, the bike won't kick at all. This happened again yesterday. No pinching but the Honda grommet makes it a tight squeeze. Removed the cover and she started right up. Time for the scrap heap. High quality points on their way - should already be here!.

What can I say - this is only the second time in my life I was actually stranded. I always manage to get things fixed. Once, my thermostat froze shut in a snowstorm and I killed the engine ad coasted to the bottom of a hill on an unknown road and there was a service station and a river. Borrowed a wrench and a screwdriver and was on the road in 15 minutes.

I found the problem today. The bearing retainer had started to unscrew. I last tightened this in 2005 when the tire was replaced and forgot it existed. I was in Suzuki Bandit mode - the sprocket carrier just sits on there and can be lifted right off.

If we had removed sprocket out on the road, we would have seen the retainer and been back in business in about 30 minutes. Live and learn. I'll put 200 miles down tomorrow with my son to see that all the problems have been licked.

How about the 12th somewhere in between Birmingham and Van Buren? I think half way is in the vicinity of exit 260 on I40. It looks like there are a few restuarants and a state park nearby.

the 13th would be a better day for me but if that doesn't work for you I will try to make arraingements. but the West Memphis connection would be fine..

Saturday the 13th works for me. We need to pick the meetup site and set a time. It looks like Shell Lake, AR is about 1/2 way between us.

Maybe a lunch meetup around 1:00 PM?

I like the Helena idea myself. However I have a friend that lives there and he tells me the restaurants are not that good. when I have been there we have either gone to one mexican rest. he likes or the national brands like McD or Pizza Hut.

What time for the meet up?

I am thinking shoot for noon so that we get home before too late. That would have us leaving around 7:00 AM and factors in breaks every 90 miles or so for 20 minutes.

that sounds about right on our end too.. with a little stop over to visit Trevor, we should be back home before night fall. Look forward to meeting you guys. Everyone from AR seems to be busy except me, for this weekend. I think my sons are going to ride with me. I have a second SOHC 750 but my 350F is not ready so one of them will have to take a different bike (probably a harley.. )

The most important thing about the relay is meeting AND riding with forum members. The next most important thing is to have a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

If you guys feel more comfortable on those bikes, go for it!

CBGhia should be good for the 20th, but he is in the DFW area. The Central TX portion of the Rally will be a week or two later.
