Still haven't heard from Justin.  Riding aimlessly in circles in the meantime until he gives me a meet date.

I'm still in for the ride. Unfortunately I could only ride Friday through Sunday unless they change my work schedule.
Can you swap a Monday for a Friday with a co-worker? It might work better for the other Socal riders to start on a Saturday, rather than a Friday. Gold, Doc, Apex, Pat, Mooshie, what's your input?

I very rarely miss a deadline that I set on a bike build but this is going to be one of them. It's coming together but probably won't be ridable until the end of May.  :-[

I'm still in for either Saturday or Sunday 5/25-5/26, but still no overnight though.

I know times like these we want to ride our 40 yrs old bikes that we built and maintained, and we want to be proud of ourselves with what we have achieved.  So, with that said, Apex if you don't mind you could ride one of my bikes, so that we can go out and have fun.  There is always the next GZ4 for your 400f :)

Navigator, plot a course from GreenHornet to you, then Rosamond, Apex, and Mooshie, using the most desirable routes for you all. You could probably do a loop and be home for dinner Saturday evening? Doc would have a much longer day..

Just got back from a 4 day ride.  Have no rear brake at the moment... :o but that is an easy fix.   I am ready to ride on a Friday, Sat or Sun.  Just let me know.  So we are looking at the end of May now?  That still works for me.  I plan on the Santa Barbara to San Jose/Monterey/possibly San Francisco leg.  Depends on where Northern Cal wants to meet up...certainly San Jose/Monterey is shorter.  I figured take the 1?   :)

Don't know.  Either I need new shoes or something wasn't connected properly inside the hub when everything was put back together (new powdercoated rim, polished hub, SS spokes, and tires).  Darn thing just was useless (well I was actually able to tighten the springy thing at the rear of the bike enough to get enough bite but I just rode without using it because I didn't want to mess anything up.  I really tightened that spring and nut and knew that wasn't optimum).

If you had to tighten the nut up all the way just to get any brake at all, the arm may have been remounted on the splined shaft one tooth off. There may be a punch-mark on the end of the shaft, which should align with the split in the arm.

here's map for SoCal riders

Please add CoachDoc to the map, just so I can get some perspective.
Zooming in, it appears that you guys are all closer than I was thinking. I can see some alternative roads to I-14, such as Sierra Hwy. Somewhere around Santa Clarita might be a good place to meet up with Apex, if he can make it.
Lisa and Sal, were you planning on returning via 1 or the 101? If Sal can't get Monday off, and considering Goldarrow can't ride on a Friday, do you feel you could comfortably do the ride from Socal to Norcal and back in two days? BTW, Grumpy is in Gilroy, so possibly you could meet up with him and maybe other Norcal riders near Monterrey or Big Sur early enough on Sunday for Sal to make it back in time for work on Monday? Just throwing ideas out there...

Ideally I would like to take HWY1. If I cannot get Monday off I'll just ride up as far as Monterey then head back the next day.

I took that spline off while messing with it to try and fix and it seemed to be mounted fine.  I don't work on brakes so could it be misaligned inside of the hub?  I have it at my mechanic who is looking at today.

It doesn't matter to me how we return.  I have done the 1 plenty of times so taking the 101 back is fine for me if Sal needs to return quickly.  As far as doing the ride in 2 days -that should not be a problem.  I figure as GZ-3 gets closer we can plan more specifically for days of week and then decide.  I can always come back alone if need be but one way or another we will get GZ to the No CAL contingency

Team 3,

Looks like Team 4 may be targeting the end of May, first of June. Greg/Ofreen should be the pick up target again plus we have another ID rider and hopefully a UT rider or 2 so we may have a little more flexibility this year!

How's this looking for you guys? Greg may be able to pick up sooner but I do not know that for sure.

I know nothing about brakes.  I leave that and tires to the professionals.  I will find out what went wrong soon enough though.

I'm watching the progress as best I can.  Is GZ in Texas yet, or still in A-R-Kansas?
