Saturday works for me, the earlier the better.

Hi Greg, I'm looking forward to the meet up, I'll plan to leave Napa at dawn on Saturday 6/8, which should put me in Fernley NV sometime between 10am and 11am.  So far, it looks like my Napa CA to Fernley NV ride will be just me and the GZ?  If so, I may see if a I can talk one of my non-sohc4 riding friends into joining me for the day.

YES!! We always encourage others be invited to ride along, whatever make of bike. The only rule is that Godzilla can ONLY RIDE ON an SOHC 4, unless there is no other way to move him.

Yes, no problem there, GZ will ride with me, but will hopefully flanked by others.

Who all is going on this ride to meet me in the Central Coast?  and where do you want to meet up?  I can ride to wherever is convenient for you based on your route north.

Mooshie, pick a spot near the 150/101 intersection and we'll meet you there. Time would be around 10 A.M. on June 1.

Well you have 2 choices if you want to stop for gas before we go north then in Carp at the 76 is convenient (I will give you an address) or if you want to rest a second and use a non-service station restroom then you can meet at my house and we can then cruise over to the gas station together.  Both are near the 101/150.  Let me know and I will pm you with the address/directions.

Gas will be a must.......others have expressed some concern in the past, so the 76 sounds good. Let us know the address and we'll be good to go. Looking forward to this ride!

I will pm you CoachDoc with the address so you can GPS it.  Gas will not be a problem on the ride. I have done this many times and there should be no concern regardless of the route we eventually choose to take.

Instead of meeting up with the guys in Santa Clarita I think I will ride West from my house (Tehachapi) and meet up with everyone on the coast.  When you determine the meetup place with Mooshie let me know so I can plan my route.

Thanks for checking in, coke. Glad to hear you missed the tornado!!!! The weather disturbance that was circling over us in Cortez was evidently the spawning grounds for the tornado.

Pat, I was looking at a map and trying to figure how you might travel from Tehachapi to the coast. If your route takes you through Ojai, maybe you could meet us there and then we can go on over to the coast to meet Mooshie in Carpenteria.

Pat, are you thinking of taking 223 to Old River Rd to 166?

If "Old River Road" is the same as Hwy 33 then yes that looks like a good route.  I have not been down these roads before.  I've read they are fun.

I'm trying to bring along another local rider but he wants to meet the group closer to Pismo and go North from there.

Old River Rd cuts south of 223 and meets 166 about 10 miles East of Maricopa. 166 takes you to Santa Maria, about 20 miles south of Pismo.
Edit: I meant to say East of Maricopa..

So. Cal riders:  Who will be making the trek with GZ3 from LA north and how far are you all going?  I know CoachDoc is going as far as Santa Maria.  Pat is along but how far?  Greenhornet/Sal has been too quiet but last I heard he is going with me to Monterey with Triumph Dude.  Any others?  I think we had more this year than in prior years.
I have contact info for all of the No. Cal riders for the handoff on 6/2 in Monterey....Our leg is fast approaching.  Finally. 8)

I'm not going to be going overnight so how far I go depends on how far we get before I turn around.  From the coast to home is 3 more hours at Morro Bay.  If the situation changes and I can get away overnight I'll go farther.

We picked up Bob3050 who is planning to join us in Santa Maria (during our gas/restroom stop).  Pat is riding possibly to Cambria and I think CoachDoc is going as far as Santa Maria.  So we have at least 3 confirmed.  Greenhornet?
I am looking at the 101 (Carpinteria)>154>Foxen Canyon ending in Santa Maria then back on 101>Hwy 1> ending in Monterey as the ride North.  We can take a different route back (more twisties and longer) if Sal or others want.  Willing to take ideas for the ride home.  I want to follow on that one not plan :-*

Lisa, are you planning on taking Hwy 1 from Santa Maria to Pismo? If so, consider a route from Foxen Canyon to Dominion to East Clark. There is a Unocal station on the corner of Clark and Bradley, and an Orcutt Burger on the other side of the intersection. From there Clark tees into Hwy 1 just past Orcutt.
(A bit of trivia: a scene from the movie "Sideways" was shot in the Orcutt Burger, and one of my mom's friends was an extra in the background. The town of Orcutt was named for a Union Oil engineer, or geologist(?), and originally consisted of company houses (shacks  ;)) that had been relocated to the present location once the wells were drilled.)

Scottly, your 'Clark and Bradley' comment brought back memories, I used to live just a few blocks from that intersection, first on Loma Way, then on Revere Street, back in 1980, the Oak Knolls shopping center was fairly new then, and I remember going to the Swensen's ice cream parlor after getting out of class at Orcutt Middle School.  There used to be a very popular olive stand just outside of Guadalupe on Hwy 1, it was always worth a stop, I wonder if it is still in business.

Dave, the Oak Knoll shopping center first opened about 1965; I was there for the grand opening. ;) Lived on Bauer Ave. I went to Old Orcutt school, first as a kindergartner before May Grisham was built in 1959, then again in 1966-67 after it had become the junior high school. Go Orcutt Mustangs!!
