Preserving 4into 4 exhaust
« on: August 23, 2013, 08:17:10 PM »
I asked a while back -- what people were doing to try to get longevity out of their stock 4 into 4 exhaust pipes-- in my case 341s for a 1974 cb 750. I was concerned about potential damage from the battery vent.

It was suggested-- real good solution--that I go to an expensive non venting battery.

I was curious if anyone has experimented with relocating the vent tube. Today, I extended the vent tube about 4 inches . I have no clue if this will help, but I'd like some feedback on my experiment and/or hoping to find a less expensive alternative to protecting my expensive exhaust from the bad breath coming from my "standard" battery.

Thanks

Sealed battery would be better solution. I'm using chest one I can find on earth ($43 shipped to my door) and still holding great.

Even if extending the tube, acid could still get to other parts of your bike

$47 expensive?   I don't think so.

47 isn't expensive, I just wanted to save that $4 for a jamba juice drink ;)

Are you a paid spokes model?!

Uncle Terry says a good way to preserve your exhaust is put two stroke oil in your fuel tank.

I wish I get a cut!

I thought a bit of 2 stroke oil to help engine burning ethanol fuel

+1 for using marine 2 stroke oil in the gas tank. I add about 2 ounces per tankful.
