Head question
« on: February 20, 2013, 02:35:32 PM »
Hi
I was dismantling my CB750P motor this afternoon. Its the first time I see a cam holder without the M5 bolt that lock the rocker pin.In the head oil restriction are solid, not removable. Which year is this head?
No mark on the cam
No valve seal on the exhaust

My bike is a 72 but since it's a police bike it's not really a reference for the components,All my 3 police motor are like this one.

Those oil jets are removable, but difficult. They are shaped like a dome on the bottom side, where they have many holes that comprise a screen filter. This is the K0-K1 engine design, and the exhaust guides on those that have the pointed guide tops lack any seal. Those engines make more HP than the later ones, but also require more frequent oil changes because the exhaust can more easily contaminate the oil without those seals.

The rocker arm shafts had no 5mm bolts until partway thru the 1972 K2 model year, approximately 5/1972 production.

If you must replace the guides, you can use common CB750 bronze guides like the ones from APE. They work fine.
