Bored .50 over
« on: February 21, 2013, 01:21:00 PM »
Please don't horse whip me for this question. Engine has been .50 over bored, do I need .50 over gaskets. If I do , where can I find them.

Thanks, Bob

Bored .50 over as in .50" as in 1/2", or bored .050" over? and is it inches or millimeters over? Most likely it's .050 and no, you wouldn't need different gaskets if that's the case. Find out if it's mm or inches though.

No, the stock Honda gasket fits them up to 1.00 mm oversize.  ;)

I got a set of cruisin' image 400 pistons that I might use sometime that make it a 450 or 436 or something like that. Threw the box in the woodstove and found the head gasket when digging out the ashes. D'OH!

I guess that's a big enough difference (several mm) on the 350 bores that I will have to see if I can get them to $end a new one.

My bad guys, I did mean .050 over. Been 40 years since math class.  And thanks for the answer. This is my first engine rebuild, and needed help. Hope to have pics of finished bike maybe by May
 or June.

You were probably correct the first time.
.5mm is Honda second oversize.

.050" would be 1.27mm over - a highly unlikely piston size.
.050mm would be .0019685" over - another highly unlikely size.
and .5" - 12.7mm over?

Keep us posted on the progress.
