It would not interest me at all for 2 grand but maybe I am spoiled living in the Midwest where those are everywhere for cheaper. If anything you should be looking for a 78 since you have one of those already that you could combine parts on  ;)    http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=118178.0

$2000 ? No way in hell. I would suggest you keep looking for a better deal. Or if you really want that bike, tell him that $1200 is all you can afford and if he changes his mind your offer will be still good.

JMHO - for 2k I'd pass.  Too many add-ons and not enough attention to the bike itself, just going by the picture.  If I were to buy it, definitely ask the guy if he's kept a maintenance log on it of some sort, and if he has, ask to see it.  If there's an accurate listing of oil changes, valve adjustments, tire replacement, brake pads & shoes, etc etc.."Okay, then let's hear it run..."  But just going by the photo, looks like the type of owner that would brag about getting a king/queen seat, 4-n-1 pipe etc etc, and not be able to tell you the last time he checked the valves or wheel bearings.  Again, JMHO/two cents worth.

Even with european meassurements thats not a 2000$ bike.

Ironic when he says "original". When you directly can point out like 5 key, design features thats not original. Tells you a little that till fella dont know a sh*t :)
Please ! Take a look and give me feedback in my project thread, its much needed :)

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Depends more on your local market.  I went to college in that area -- and have friends there -- the Phoenix area got hit hard from the economic downturn, so I wouldn't expect the Phoenix market for bikes to be so much better than here, Silicon Valley.  Our jobs market is (supposedly) the best in the USA and you still would have a hard time as a seller getting $2000 for it in that shape.  If the bike was original with the (1) original and in-good-shape seat; (2) original factory paint and decals; (3) relatively low miles; (4) stock and in-decent-shape exhausts; (5) stock handlebars, yep it might be worth $2000.

Here's a 1976 cb750 with everything intact mostly and it sold for $2700 just 2 weeks back on ebay, but it has LOW MILES -- it has less than 14,000 original miles:

Here's the ebay link to the auction of the bike:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1976-Honda-CB750-CB-750-clean-original-bike-/251224947196?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item3a7e2c79fc#v4-39

But hey, if that's a good deal right now in the Tempe/Phoenix/Scottsdale area buy it I guess but what is the mileage on it?

Tell the guy that you'll give him (offer/1K/? your call) at best. If he says He!! no, give him your phone number and tell him to call you in two weeks, and walk away. My money is on he will call you begging for your $$/offer... ;)
I've bought so many bikes this way it's kindof funny now. Most people inflate their price due to their like/love of what they have to sell. When they see it not moving, they call.

The problem with Australia is, the cats out of the bag about how cool it is there so now it's been made quite difficult to move to the country.

Plus I believe you guys were getting 2 strokes well into the 1990s.  1998 RGV-250cc, vj23, 80hp.  300lbs.

yeah i forgot the two strokes,we had all the best two stroke dirt bikes, aswell as road screamers, stick your clean air act,if your using modern oils at sensible premix they run clean when under power any way!sure you cant see the smoke but its a lot more high tech than it used to be with two stroke oils,,who wants a four stroke chain saw?

I might make a trip to Michigan then because in my part of Indiana I hardly see them on CL at all and if I do it's usually cafe's, unfinished chopper projects or no title and if a clean one with title does show up I'd better be checking CL every hour or 1/2 hour or it's going to be gone before I can pick up the phone. 2k is too much for that bike though even here.
