Z1 airbox for cb750

Ok so I'm going to apologize in advance for this stupid question. I've asked a couple of times on this forum about jet sizes with pod filters. And Almost all the replies say I need to stick with a stock air box and just put a K and N filter in it. Well I was in the shop the other day and happened to glance over at both of my Dad's Z1's. And I noticed the air box on it. And well here's the question do anybody think it would fit my 71 750. I know that the carb throats on the Z1's are bigger but by how much?

Jet size is 122.5 for pods or .051.  Ebay that z1 box and use the cash to get some K&N pods.  Kawasaki parts on our Honda's is just embarassing.  ;)

if you use that air box youll have to use the kwaka carbies,then if you use the kwaka carbies youll have to use the kwaka head for them to fit,if you use the kwaka head youll have to use the rest of the kwaka engine,youll have to get a kwaka frame for the engine to fit properly,id go for it man!

I admit it would be embarrassing and that air box isn't mine I stole that pic from an eBay auction they're expensive! The only reason I asked was because I wanted to run something like that where all the those rubber pieces came into one big one and then fit a filter at the end of that. It probably wouldn't fit right and I would probably have to make brackets to mount it anyways.

I like the z1 design, and ability to drop filter in from the top.. Try to get measurements,maybe we can adapt it..

 I hate and cant stand the Honda one, cant even think about using one..

From what I can figure the only problems would be mounting it, seeing if it fits in the frame, and if the rubber pieces that connect to the carbs will fit the carbs. I'm still researching about the last issue and then if that is cleared then I'll look into mounting it.

I don't understand the hatred for the honda 750 airbox.  It's probably one of the easiest inline four boxes to remove and install.

If the Z1 throats are bigger, you could probably create rubber shims to take up the difference. Biggest question would be if the centre of each of the Z1 throats lines up with centre of each carb.

That won't work at all, the lip created where the shim is will just create turbulent air which will be just as bad as trying to tune for pods.  The Kawasaki airbox idea won't work without lots of well thought out work, waste of time....

^^^Correct, I have a 78 Kz1000 and the carb spacing is different from the cb 750.

Compared to the z1 box,  the 750 box is a masterpiece. Sure it's boxy and all, but compared to what the other big manufacturers came up with, it's way better.  Matter of opinion for sure though.
