How to install a fork brace on a 76 CB550F
« on: May 15, 2005, 07:36:07 pm »
I bought this fork brace on a whim, but then started thinking about where on earth it goes  ::)

Words of wisdom?  I can't fathom where this thing is supposed to go on my front forks without losing my fender (is that the point?)

hey,
they were ment to be used when you made a chopper, with extended tubes, (staunchens?) so you could put it 5 or so inches above the lower... so you still had travel. the race guys would use them with a fender mounted on them.
so on stock cb put it about mid way between the lower tripple, and the lower fork tube. just make sure you have enough travel. ill look up the specks on travel if you dont have it.

oh yeah, what did you want for the clutch plates?

I have the same brace on my '78 750F. It mounts to the top of the fork cases leaving about enough room to slip a piece of paper between it and the fender. Mine was NOS when I got it so I had the benefit of instructions...very specific instructions. Unfortunately I can't post images so I can't get the instuctions to you here. I'd be happy to snail mail them to you if you'd like.

My access to the net is webtv so my ability to post images is somewhat limited. If I had a compatible digital camera or video camera I could post images...but I don't. I'll try to fax them today.
