I think your carb is 069A but I could be wrong though. Check against the manual.  Also look for stamp on the right hand side of the carbs bracket.

Get carb rubber oring kits from your local Honda dealer.  Reuse and clean all brass parts really well. Search the forum on how to install/reinstall carb bowls gasket technique as you're more likely have to it this more than once.

Numbers on the carbs won't matter if you are going for the OEM gasket kits and reusing the brass bits. Honda kits are the best quality but their gasket kits are just top cover and bowl gaskets and some o rings. Should work on any cb500 or cb550 non pd style.

Many members get parts from partsnmore.com they do sell full rebuild kits. I think they are ok but it is thought that the needles are quite inferior to used OEM.  Hopefully you are pointed in the right direction.

do you just set the carbs in the cleaner and let it soak overnite or what?

Basically yes, depending on how bad they are.  I strip the carb down first.  Let it soak for about two hours first and check it afterwards to see how it's doing.  I've left really nasty carbs soaking overnight but only about 6-7 hours.  Too long and it can oxidize the alum a bit.

There is another downside in soaking overnight, some of the shafts that run through the carbs are sealsed with felt washers and carb soaks like the Berryman's can ruin those and cause sealing issues.

Now is the time to make sure you know your carbs model number.

From what I have read, no difference in the carb body, but jet sizes

All over the forums? Some said 38, some said 40 for the mains.  May be the air/fuel screw turns out that I was referring to? But I always go by what the manual said.

069A Carbs (550F models) all have #38 slow and #98 main jets.
It could be that Honda has sneeked in some changes in settings in the F2 as it had to satisfy emission rules, but I don't think the sizes were changed.
