CB500 shock suggestions
« on: February 27, 2013, 09:33:59 AM »
I have reached the point in my project that I need to make a decision on the shocks.  It is a 72 CB500, mostly stock except for a 4 into 1 and I'll be running some old Shoei hard bags.   I had some straight rate springs made for the front and set up for reasonably aggressive riding and my shameful 230 pound weight.  My question is about the shocks.

I have pretty much decided to go with Hagons.  The stock shocks measure about 12.5" eye to eye.  I will be running about an inch of sag at the front. Any suggestions for the length I should order for the rear?  I'm thinking I might want to go with 13" to 13.5" eye to eye just to keep the bike balanced properly and give me good cornering clearance.

Any suggestions?

I suggest you get the stock length and request a spring rate that will provide you the 1 inch of sag with your given weight.

I much prefer the longer CB750 shocks and springs (front springs as well)
