Very Disappointed
« on: February 26, 2013, 09:55:44 AM »
My name Bob Papin, and I have been a member for a very short time. I have asked stupid questions about my restoration, and mostly got great feedback. But some of you just like to call people stupid. Belittleing people is your hobby. I've made deals with some of you , and had no problems. Recently I tried to buy a air box from Bill Benton racing. I sent a payment to his PayPal account. The payment was made Feb 19th. $40 +$15 shipping. I have left him numerous emails with the information . What I'm bummed about is he is all over this forum selling stuff, but can't be bothered to follow up on a previous sale. I've have belonged to a Gold wing forum with no problems. I have gone to PayPal and cancelled the payment. I'll go to eBay and buy from them. All the items I'm selling l guess will be going to the scrap yard. I think Bill has too many oars in the water. I know many of you have bought parts from Bill. Just asking for contact.

Sorry if I'm wining, but only trying to build a bike

Bill is a stand up member.  I'm sorry you seem to have been possibly lost in the shuffle with him selling a bunch of parts, but I whole heartedly doubt he is intentionally avoiding you, or trying to stiff you.  I sent him a PM.

Bill is a good guy. He doesn't make his living off this. Bill Benton racing is a hobby for him, not a business plus he has a job and a family. In other words he has other prioirities that must come first. If it were a business it would get sent in a day or two. You're talking only 7 days. He's doing many members a service by selling them parts which may be difficult to find or afford. I think perhaps a little more patience would be good. Bill WILL take care of you. It just seems there are 2 different ideas or sets of priorities here. Did you explain to him initially what your shipping expectations were? Guess Bill might need to put a qualifier on here something to the effect of "if you're in an overnight hurry, buy elsewhere because I have a life too. Otherwise I will take care of you".

While I agree with you that there can be some negativity on here we are here to help others. Lashing out is not doing yourself any favors. Please send me a link to the post where someone said "Fatslob, you are stupid".

Yes, a few are here for sport and their juvenile mentality is troublesome.  My only advice is to ignore them, they won't go away like you may have heard, but they will have less ammunition.  Keep asking questions, sift through the garbage, let it all go, and ride in peace.

Bob,doesn't show on my end.OK to PM me.Thanks,Bill

So he has been in communication with you, that sunday night. and HE contacted YOU and is trying to figure it out.  He didnt see your payment so maybe you sent it to the wrong adress, or something else happened- whatever. But do go accusing someone of ripping you off, especially someone as dedicated to the forum as him.  This forum is worth more than 50 bucks to him.

Also the forum has just been changed to a new server and there are some teething problems, PM's are part of that, slagging off great guys here won't make you many friends.
+100 to everything Elan said. Oh, and i just received a box of parts from Bill from the USA, this is my 2nd parcel from Bill and i am buying more. Stand up guy and great trusted seller....

Rigid needs to stop looking in the mirror when posting.... ;D

Edit, Bill says on the 24th that he has NO PAYMENT, why should he send parts..?

But some of you just like to call people stupid. Belittleing people is your hobby.

Huh? This has got to be the tamest site I've ever been to so much so it's almost boring entertainment wise except for maybe when Terry from Oz has got something to say in the open forum. :) Seriously though I think you're jumping the gun, I've gotten parts from others on this site and some did take at least a week to get the part in the mail after I payed for it but I none the less got the part and their reason for taking so long was simple, they've got a life and priorities as well. Just relax.

if you sent paypal from a checking account and not a CC it can take a couple days to clear.

Hell I can only ship things once a week on my one day off if I am not busy with other things (like say the flu)  I try to let people know that when I ship.

Fats, I met Bill several years ago at the relay ride in North Carolina at the Rockingham speedway. He's just a super nice guy and I  enjoyed talking to him and getting to know him a little bit. I think you getting worked up over nothing and what ever the problem is Im sure Bill will make it right.
