Replacement JE Piston ring help CB550 61mm
« on: February 24, 2013, 05:32:36 PM »
Today I was installing my Dynoman DP592SV big bore pistons and I ended up ruining one of the oil rings.  I sent an email to Dynoman to see if I can buy a single ring set but they charge an extra $25 for order under $150.  I have been searching the internet for an alternate, hopefully, local source for the rings.  The box for the rings has a part# XA2402.  Attached is a pic of what I found on the NPR of America catalog and the information matchs up with my part# and the rings specs on the box.  I cross referenced my part# with Wiseco and found part# 2402XA.  The picture of the rings look the same and the specs ( 0.8mm x 0.8mm x 1.5mm) seem to be the same.  Does this sound like a match?

Just an FYI, the rings are made by NPR of America.  I ended up purchasing Wiseco rings for a GPZ550 part# 2402XA which are the same rings.  I am based in Canada so the ring set and added shipping cost from Dynaman would be equivalent to two sets of rings purchased locally.

I'm a bit surprised they use 0.8mm compression rings, but I'm surprised all the time!

Good detective work.
