VW powered dream build
« on: February 27, 2013, 09:43:34 AM »
My brother and I have always talked about a VW powered bike. I was thinking through the design and saw a bike that used the VW transaxle with a belt drive sprocket in the axle location. It had a car style 4 link rear suspension. With a rather longish wheelbase what would be a good front end and rear wheel assembly to use? A slightly fat rear tire would be preferable. I'm thinking Harley D might handle the weight and be user friendly but big Honda also comes to mind.

Yep, you read my mind Bert.
Amazonas where a big hit here in Brazil during  the 80's.
I was a teenager back them, and dreamed with long trips in one of them.
They where unusual, awkward, cumbersome and, just because of it, a very special kind of bike.
Good start do anyone who thinks in a VW powered bike.
Sory the bad english.

Look up Weblley Vickers motorcycle..not sure it will be on the net.
They were BMW based VW conversions, and very nicely proportioned..

There used to be an old BMW bike in my town that had a VW engine squeezed into the frame.
