I had a couple of GS 1150's dynoed recently, 123hp at the rearwheel was result for both of them. Just for comparison ;)

One of the engines is 1230cc with all stock hardware, other is stock displacement with a few small tricks done by J's Garage  ;)

Your 1500cc head is done......you'll crap your pants when you see it. I'm just waiting for the right retainers from Kibblewhite and modifying the lash caps a bit. It is beautiful Juha. No one could do a better job.....thank God for Bobby @ HMP. ;)

Brian called this morning and there must be a bad ground on the GS because there
is something called RF noise or RA noise from the coils???????? (Dyna green coils)
Its really messing with the Dyno and the electronics. He is going to have to check to make
sure all of the grounds (Especially from the coils) are good and then try again
He also said that he has to ground the bike to the dyno also
He did run it threw the gears to red line and it felt strong .............BUT
need to get everything talking between the bike and dyno to do a proper
run and see where the air/fuel is.........Hopefully today I will know what the numbers are going to be

They did find that the ground to both coils where loose but not enough to make the ignition miss
but enough that they thought that might be the problem.
also added a couple of more grounds to the frame and the ground that where already
mounted to the frame where cleaned and checked to make sure they stayed tight.
will keep you posted.....................again

He then switched from his desktop to his metal-cased laptop, and placed large pieces of plate steel all around the equipment that the laptop and dyno were connected to. That seemed to stabilize the system and we were able to get several(+20) usable runs afterwards. I was waiting for the tinfoil hats, but they never did come out. ;)

It seems Dynojet has two versions of secondary pick-ups; one is shielded with a ground clip. The laptop vs desktop issue reminds me of ground-loop problems with a CNC years ago. No amount of shielding or tinfoil helped. ;) In the end, the problem was caused by the computer not sharing the same power source as the machine. The Dynojet wiring, from what I've been able to figure out, lends itself to the same type of issue.

Not that this has anything to do with your issue, but with higher-output ignitions and wasted spark setups, we have to use two pickups to get the rev's right.  The unit gets confused trying to calibrate between the combustion spark and the wasted spark from the paired coils with a single pickup, and the reading goes to #$%* above 5k or so.

The answer was right there in the manual, but we scratched our heads for a good long time before reading the thing. :-[

I've read the manual, and it did mention using both secondary pick-ups, but no mention of the shielded vs non shielded pickups. There are no markings on any of the pick-ups as far as which is primary or secondary; I had to verify mine by the ground clip.
The manual also makes no mention of the compressed air siphon system for the A/F meter; it only mentions an optional air pump. The latest copyright date is 2006, but my dyno is less than 3 years old. Methinks their documentation may not be up to date? ???

Getting the primary pickup worked for my FJ recently...was able to get a good chart. (156.7 RWHP and 93 lbs of torque....not bad for a 1314cc FJ) ;)

Mea culpa...

This is a wheel on a Ford 4.6L V8 out of a PI model getting some high-po goodies. Massive degree wheel. Pic add in a few minutes...

BTW Mike, is the FJ a Yamaha FJ8 or what is an FJ? Surely not a Yamaha FJ6 with that much of a displacement increase...  Does Harley make an FJ model or another maker?

That's a nice wheel even judging by the limited amount I can see. The bike is an 87 FJ1200 taken out to 1314cc. A couple of other mods too. ;) ;D

well the story continues as they found that the aftermarket regulator/rectifier is bad (Electrosport) ordered a new one
and a new OEM to make sure its not just the aftermarket one
will keep everyone posted

Jim....you want GOOD luck....not BAD luck. ;) I'll be honest.....the GS's were never known for stout charging systems to begin with. I have replaced quite a few stators and Reg/Rec units
