Thanks :D :D Not sure.  I'll probably pull the valve cover and check in there next trip and take lots of pics.  It's definitely not a K0 head...there's a bolt hole, but no bolt.  So, maybe it still has the sandcast cylinders???  Even if it's bored out, I can replace the sleeves and go back to stock.  If I end up rebuilding it, I will go as close to stock as possible.

Check out the difference in the transition just below where the fork boot goes around the fork leg...there is more of a step on the K0 forks, and a smoother transition on the K1 legs.

I'm noting this for myself: Frame 4286 likely came from Honda with motor 4491.

That's right.  According to the SOOC site, there are 377 complete sandcasts and a total of 485 records (frames, engines and complete bikes) registered.

No worries Mark!  Do you have any experience with the Yamiya RH switch?  It looks good for the price, but I'd like to know if its significantly different than the originals.

I'll have pics of the motor tomorrow.

It turns over, and once I got under the valve cover, I was very happy to see what I did.  Everything looks great.

Frank,

I have the whole finned set off and ready to sell, less the starter cover (didn't get to pull it today)  You have first dibs if you want the set.  I'll post them later in the For Sale, and send you a PM when I have pics. ;)

Congrats on your sandcast engine! :)

Thought you might like to see serial number #365, photo was taken from the engine Cycle X was parting out last year.

Thank you for sharing!  That is very cool, and I didn't know they had such an early motor.  It's cool to think these are only six numbers apart and may have been born on the same day...likely in the first week or two of production.

Figured out the motor has a 'fat lip' alternator cover...Bummer...So, it has the wrong head, clutch cover, alternator cover, and cylinders :'( :'(

In better news...have I mentioned I love this forum?  Well, I do.  Another couple scores from a Parts Wanted listing I put up here.  Found K0 forks, and a really nice K0 front fender...no cuts but it's in extremely nice shape for its age.
