Wait to release the funds? I never had that even when I first started selling. Maybe he owes for a dispute against him?

I had them do that to me recently and I have many PayPal transactions. However, it was for an item that was being shipped to South Africa. The deal was wait about 3 weeks for the funds to be released, or mark it shipped and add tracking info for immediate release.

Since the shipping was $490, an amount I was unwilling to front for the buyer, especially one from another country, he had to wait until the money was available to me before I would even send the item to him. In the end, a phone call to PayPal got them to release the money early so that I could ship.

Thank you gents! Forks and front fender will be in next weekend. Still need to buy new stock fork tubes. I'll likely go with cyclex.

Unless he's increased his offerings, CycleX (Ken) sells K2 and up tubes which don't fit K0. No machined grooves.  Forks by Franks does.

Forks came in and they look great.  I'm thinking about getting progressive springs, but I'll check and see what some of the other sandcast guys have done.

Polishing sucks, but who knew un-polishing sucked too??

I started with what's on the right, and there were some deep scrapes, scratches, and nicks.  I tried 400 grit at first, but wound up using 320 to get at the deeper stuff.  This is not fun work, and my fingers hurt.  I got pretty far on one leg in an hour.  I think I'll have three or four hours into them before I'm satisfied.

Deeper than they look, these were some of the worst.  The spot before:

After:

Left leg is about two thirds done.

Tubes are the next scheduled purchase.  It will be satisfying to put the finished legs together.

`I've found that with polishing ruffed up stuff, that it actually saves time to start with 80 or 100 grit, or even a file...

I might go down another step, but they were already polished.  The move from 400 to 320 made a big difference.  I'm going back to original finish, which was sort of a brushed look.  Personally I like the polished fork look, but originality is more important with this bike.

There is a seller on flea bay in SoCal that refinishes these. I had a couple of sets done.

His name is Rick. Takes him a while but nice work. I can PM phone number if interested.

Those look great tt.  I've gone far enough I might as well do it all myself.  There's a whole lot of aluminum to refinish on this bike, so I had better get good at it, and get used to it.  I only want to farm out the jobs I really can't do, like the red paint, and the chroming.  I can paint the frame at my dad's shop, and I'm thinking of buying a caswell plating kit for all my hardware.

Mind if I ask what he charged, and what was done?

Well, it's been over a year ago. He cleans, sands the nicks then recoats with some sort of baked on stuff. Would do all your parts in a OEM finish. At least close.

Should be on flea bay under forks. (CB750)

He did mine on the CB350F also. Had several good shots but cleaned up the puter.
