I think they look that way when the dealer stamps them...not as uniform as the factory. That also means you have to really check that those replacement cases are actually sandies, and not die casts with the sandy number. I did notice that, but I've seen a few like that over on SOOC.

That filter is aftermarket....Jammer sold them, i still have mine..
Just be patient get the first motor then trade it for a later one..

I already have a standing offer to buy it. If I hadn't blown all my cash with this one, I'd be going after the more appropriately numbered motor on ebay.

I've been busy collecting parts...found a great oil tank from Old Scrambler (member here) and I scored some nice original emblems on ebay for $75 shipped

I'm getting a great deal from Lecram on a rebuilt set of gauges. The speedometer has a real sandcast drive, and the tachometer is die cast..new backs, covers and faces, and the dampers have been refilled. I'm very happy with the parts I've gotten from him before, so I'm sure they will be beautiful. The first recessed ignition I bought needed some work, so I found a better one on ebay and sold the first one off with full disclosure on its condition. The second one is much nicer, and it already had a plug key, which saved me $50. The other one is going to Sweden.

The motor should arrive at my dad's place Thursday, and I'll see it probably Saturday to give it a look-see and take some pictures.

I'm still looking for K0 forks. I missed out on a great looking set a month back, and I haven't seen a set since

I've been following this thread with interest because I've just bought a K0 (engine #104 4164 and chassis #104 4429; racerised and disassembled). It'll be several months before I can get stuck into it but in the meanwhile... .
Those K0 sidecover badges: I picked up two new originals over the years: one is as pictured with a gold background (in original Honda plastic wrapping) and the other one has a black background. Both are for the left sidecover.
The question is which bikes got the golden one and which bikes got the black one?

Gold is for red, blue/green bikes, and I believe the black badges were for gold colored bikes. Those are the three combinations I'm aware of. My bike was red, so that's what I'm going with.

Got to work on the tank. I'm doing the electrolysis method to keep from eating any more of the steel in the tank. Only had two hours to leave it today, and it didn't make a huge dent in the rust, but it did clean a lot of the crap off the surface inside. I can see that the tank is very much worth the effort of saving, and it probably needs a full day or two to finish the job. I just can't leave it at the shop unattended, so I had to bring it home. I have a porch here where I can set it up and leave it for hours. I'm using baking soda as the medium.

I asked someone on here to check if thr tank they wanted to sell was wrinkled.. It had the emblems filled
,and was wrinkled.. They put on ebay..I warned them to change the listing to will ship international. They did not change it, and it went for under 200.

01 Thomas.. The gold parts came in at 19***.. But I think they ended up on a few early bikes..

The darn shipping company is lagging. Delivery date was supposed to be Thursday...called at 5pm and get the "It'll be there by lunch tomorrow." Called Friday waaay after lunchtime and get the "It'll be there Monday, we don't deliver over weekends" and a B.S. apology and assurance of the Monday delivery. Meanwhile, the seller who had to set up a Paypal account to do the deal with me had been waiting for his money to be released. I guess when you're brand new they make you wait to withdraw your cash until the buyer marks it as received. I didn't know that until Thursday, when I was just politely informing the seller that it hadn't arrived yet. So basically I'm not releasing his money until the motor shows up, but the shipping company is kinda gumming up the works. It must be more difficult for Paypal to retrieve the funds from a brand new member if he "sends you a box full of bricks" as my dad puts it. So, I feel bad about making him wait, but I'd feel even worse if I got screwed out of the full cost.

I wanted to make progress on something, no matter how small, so I drilled through the emblem holes in my Franken covers. These emblems even look nice on the primer, but I can't wait for paint.

Yeah, not fun! Luckily the buyer has been pretty understanding..somewhat frustrated..understandably. I have no doubt he sent me what I paid for, so it's just a waiting game

The tank was red, and it might have been original to the bike so that's the way I'll go. I really like the blue/green, but the red pops with a nice shiny ducktail seat

Just keep looking for a set that comes up for auction, not buy it now. The set I bought started low, and only made it into the seventies. They are super nice for originals.

It may have been a larger loss than Paypal would let itself absorb if there was an issue. So, it makes sense for me to wait to mark it as received. I would probably have little recourse if I had marked it received, then complained that it wasn't what it should be.
