I have this crazy idea of swapping 400f wheels onto 550k bike.  How much trouble will I be in if I were to do it, as far as handling/performance, brake, mounting issues, etc.?  I'm sure the swap will lower profiles on the 550.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks guys

All I visualize is a medium size bike with some skinny azz little tires, would look out of proportion and probably not handle too well...Larry

The wheels are mag wheels size 18 front and back.  Don't know about the width.

Measure between the flanges for rim width,   I thought you were referring to stock wheels, could work if wide enough...Larry

The wheels are mag wheels size 18 front and back.  Don't know about the width.

Not sure what you mean by 'mag wheels size' as most CB sets had a 19" front, like all those Lesters sets you have..

Besides, what'd you buy all those mags for if you want to use wire wheels? ;D ;D ;D  All other things being stock, I think they would look too small.

The size should be on the wheels somewhere. It's pretty unusual for wheels to have no size marking on them anywhere.

Oh, and as with many questions, pictures make it much easier to supply answers.

No intention of using wire wheels :) :D mag wheels collection.  I used to collect lots of vintage clothes, then vintage sneakers, then vintage speakers. I have thin out most of those, now moving on to vintage bike mag wheels  8)

I don't have the wheels in hand yet but will try to get some pics from owner

i was told the previous tires on the wheels are both 4.10x18 tires front and rear.  does this tire size about right for 550 bike?

anything i need to look for as far as mounting them? swingarm issues?

i also notice that the rear does not have cush drive rubber like those of 550 and 750, the hub is also smaller.  handling issues on the 550?

hmm....???

I don't see how a stock frt fender would work with a tire that wide, stock was 3.25"

They sure look like H.A.'s. What makes you think they're fake? Mine have "Japan HA Industry" cast into the front wheel and "Japan" and some numbers on the rear wheel.

They must be for the 400F (or another bike) because of the width, rotor bolts, sprocket cover and a few other differences.

The width appears to be the same as the 2.15 Morris wheels on my 750. It also appears to have the raised bead for use with tubeless tires. ;)

there are no "Japan HA Industry" cast in the wheels.  only couple of random numbers and "JAPAN" casted to the wheels ??? the wheels are off of 400F bike

What are the numbers? Are they stamped or cast? My Morris wheels have numbers stamped that I think are related to the date they were made. Pics might help.

Anyone in the know for sure what these wheels are? Cuz if they are knockoffs, then the price I paid did not reflect on what they are.

Could they be early production? Prototype? Before HA stamp?

Those number that are stamped and the Japan look the same as my HA's.... I do see something that is slightly different than what I have on my 550 but then again these wheel are obviously different casts.

Is this the front or the rear?

[/img]

Here's my front. Notice where the spokes come to the edge of the rim and there is a radius that goes to the lips. My wheels do not have that...

I personally believe these are HA's. Here are the ones "Scott S" did and his are like yours verses mine.

The "Japan" on yours matches the "Japan" on my back wheel, obviously it's not the same as my front.

Hotlink? I had no idea joe to set or change that...

Thanks for pointing out the difference.  Very detail that I didn't see.  But I'm still puzzled as to why no brand marking.

Most likely your photobucket account is set to private. Anyway who knows, it could have been just that particular model that they didn't put the markings on. Maybe these were destined to be reject parts back in the day but got past QC checks lol. You may never know :)

No Henry Abe marking on my NOS CB750F Henry Abe rims. I have the original boxes, they should be the real deal. They may be early or later Henry Abe's.

Here are some pics.

From what i know, Henry Abe wheels were made in different configurations for various manufactured motorcycles like Harley Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha etc...  There are some factory wheels that look like HA's also.

Here is a Google search for Henry Abe mag wheels........
