Petcock removal
« on: March 07, 2013, 02:03:18 pm »
I am completely new to my 1974 550 four and am excited to get to know it when the snow stops flying. I have a new(er) tank for it as the one on it is beat up. i have pulled the old tank and do not know how to remove the petcock from it and how it would attach to the new tank. My Clymers Manual tells me nothing.  I would appreciate any help.  Thanks!

just turn the big nut on the top of the petcock...it will probably be kinda stuck, I usually use a big old monkey wrench.  Beware, you may need a new rubber seal and/or a tank filter sock...Let me know if you need any parts.  I have a few leftovers from a sold 550 project and I am right near you.  Welcome to the forum.
