Breeze isnt holding a grudge, snip, he's holding you to what you said, and did.  what you said was lame, but what you did was even worse.  A lot of people here have been the victims of folks like you who think its easier to go through life saying stuff like "let's kill the hippies"  "i wanna be a biker"  when you know nothing of either one- or yourself for that matter.  No one here has gone that way on you, i am actually surprised that you havent been run through it for being a 24 year old virgin- and calling that your choice.

I for one hope you are sorry for what you said, and i hope you know why.  i also hope you see easy rider, become a biker, and in two weeks, i hope she starts giving it up- and then i hope you guys are good together like that because i would hate for your first to be your last.

Theres a lot of talk about poorly informed conservatives who think they can get by by hating the right types of people and abstaining from the wrong activities- these are not the type of people i see making friends here, and they are certainly not what i think of when i think of a 'biker.'  the freedom of the road is a metaphor for a the freedom and FREE WILL that is too often missing from the social order we walk through every day.  if you aren't riding to get away from that, then (once you do start riding) please let me know why?

sorry, this would have been a better rant if i had posted when your original hippy-hatin comment-o-ignorance hit the board, but i was gonna sit this one out.   i just couldnt let breeze take all the heat.

burmashave-
you can claim to be a conservative- although most conservatives i know are not happy with the current republican administration, but do not under any circumstances label me a liberal.  and if you can point out where in my post i said you have to be one to be a biker, let me know so i can address the issue, but what is more likely is that  you equate the term liberal with free will and or free thought- and then i gotta ask you, why would you want to be against that?

i just read the wink and realized that might have come off a little defensive, but i wanted to stop a pattern before it started.  BS- we have agreed on much more than we have disagreed on- i can only think of one post where we disagreed and i can think of lots of times where i read what you posted and thought "right on." so i reacted when it seemed like whenever i said anything to a conservative you would come down on me as a liberal.. i would better be defined libertarian than liberal, but either pigeonhole makes me feel claustrophobic.  when i brought up the line about poorly informed conservatives, i was doing so almost in your defense.  snip makes all conservatives look ignorant when he claims to be one because it is easier to be on the winning team right now... whereas i can tell you have been a conservative for the duration and are not in the same class.  He makes you look bad.

i think we can do better by responding to each others comments (one of which was not that you have to be a liberal to be a biker) and we might even find ourselves agreeing.

Sorry, KK.  I tried to make light of the sitimication by not quoting you. :-\  I thought you were equating poorly informed conservatives as people we wouldn't want here.  I was going to make a weak joke later about how the board of elections insisted there is no Motorcycle Party.

Truly, I am not surprised to hear you identifiy yourself as libertarian (only if you had to choose a label).  Point taken.  If we could meet and ride together, all would be well.   Failing that, it'll be well anyway. ;)

So far as I know I didnt Do anything, I said something stupid and I was wrong, I never stated that I hated or said "lets kill the hippies" as you put it.  I merely stated that i thought and hoped all the "new hippies" as far as someone put it would go extinct, I may not know what the "old school hippies" stood for but the new ones just seem lazy.  I said something ignorant and stupid but some of you have taken it WAAY out the context i meant it

And so you know being a virgin IS a choice I made and gladly, I've had plenty of of pportunity to de-virginate myself(whether you believe it or not I dont care) however I am FREE to chose that if I wish...

I tend to lean conserative but i think the party is doing a horrible job as a whole, war budget everything...

Have a nice one

I had a really good reply all typed up, but I screwed up and closed my friggin' browser. >:(

In short, I just wanted to say that maybe Richard made a legitimate mistake in not differentiating between the two types of hippie (I believe there truly are 2 types).  If so, okay, there's an "oops" on him.  If not, then yes, he does deserve to be chastised.

To KK:  You, sir, have summed this mess up pretty well.  I tip my hat to you!

Beat me, Mr. Breeze.  This all sounds a bit looney.  There aren't two kinds of hippies.  There are just people.

By two kinds of hippies (this is something I thought only I had thought of, by the way) I mean Old and New.  Old hippies from the 60s and 70s actually stood for something and tried to make a difference.  New hippies, or should I say potheads who call themselves hippies stand for nothing, only sit on their arses wasting space.  I guess there aren't two kinds, just now there are folks who call themselves hippies incorrectly to hide their slacker ways ;)

I wish there were "just people".  Sadly, as everyone knows, anytime you speak to someone you have already been judged and classified before you say "hello".  That's one of the great things about the internet, however, in that it is more difficult to place an "instant label" on someone.

Wishing harm on anyone is another matter.  I dislike those who do nothing but leech off of taxpayers, but hope that they will live long lives and hopefully change their ways.

(hey, this turned out to be pretty interesting after-all!)

C'mon ic, people are people.  There were a lot of hippies in the 60's that stood only for slackin', doin' drugs and havin' sex.  Right now, I know people whom others would describe as hippies; however, these people put my industriousness to shame, and yup, they believe strongly in certain things.  If you take any group of people, you'll find some to be Cretins (ooops, insulted Cretins now), Philistines (doesn't work either), or Visigoths (do we have any Visigoths?).  But you'll always find gems.

I've said it before; back in the day, Harely Riders would not give a rice burner the time of day.  Not a look, not a wave, nothing.  We didn't exist.  One day, I had a minor prob and was stopped in the shoulder.  Within a few minutes, a serious-looking Harley rider stopped to see if I need help.  You just don't know.

Right you are.

I guess it really boils down to something that's so simple it's mind-boggling.  I may be wrong, but it also kind of sums up what you just said, BurmaShave:     Some people suck

I guess it's a universal truth that focuses on people rather than labels.

Now my freakin' head hurts....... ;)
