.Heavy duty nuts may not be nessesary, but they sure make me feel better , been using 1600 air cooled vw nuts an washers for yr's ,no problem, 15mm head ,larger thicker washer , stock ones not hardened ,but c/moly nuts n washers are available ,claerancing round cam cradles on some heads

They are completely ''nuts'' they ask 28.25$ just for the shipping!!!!Bert
VW Aircooled engines didn't come with flanged head nuts that i know of . They used nuts and washers. 2 different sizes through the years....10mm studs on early engines and 8mm studs on the later engines.
