Oil cooler idea

Hellow, I have an aftermarket oil tank under the seat of my bike and it gets pretty hot. I have decently long aftermarket hoses running up from the fittings on my 1974 cb750 sohc, and was wondering if I could just put any old oil cooler in-line with either the return line or sending line to cool it down? Any thoughts?

Most people put the adapter under the filter housing.

I run mine on the pressure side

So you run yours just on the return line, the one bringing the oil back to the tank?

So where would this cooler sit? If its not out front in the breeze, it won't do much cooling..... Also, even with a cooling of the oil it will still be way too hot for your butt.... ;D

That was one of my concerns, I was also very confused reading about the oil cooler adapters. It sounded like you could make one fit off of another model but it would take a spacer and different length bolt. What is the least tedious way to mount an oil cooler?

At the front using the adapter and longer bolt, still, i doubt it will fix your heat problem, thats why the tank is where it is on a stocker unfortunately....

Maybe not but it's worth a try, an oil cooler is a cool mod anyways. Where can I purchase the adapter and bolt you are talking about? Does it require any other modifications?

I have 3 but i am also using all 3   ;D  Try member Bill/BentON Racing , he has an amazing amount of old parts he's selling now, check out the for sale section or the HIPO section, just send him a pm, if not,  Terry in Australia used to make the kits so he may be persuaded to make you one.... ;)

Awsome thanks again, I believe you helped me with my bike I got from my grandpa about 1.5yrs ago, so thanks again!!!  :D always a great help!

my oil cooler is routed in line into the return line, but mounted in the front. This is, what Honda did on the CR versions as far as I know.

Well I got a different front front sprocket but it's not really doing it for me so the idea is still alive.
