Davida Helmet
« on: July 21, 2006, 02:56:51 AM »
Anyone know where to get a Davida helmet at a descent price?  I can't find one any cheaper than $250.00 on ebay.  There's gotta be a deal out there somewhere right? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7901050062&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Davida only sell through resellers so prices remain high (or should I say consistant, I'm Not saying they arn't worth the money) and don't sell direct, I had a look on some sites here in the UK and your looking at about 160 GBP.

I think I paid $300 Canadian for mine a couple years ago.  I had just sold my sportbike and figured I'd treat myslef to one having been too cheap to spend that kind of dough on an open face helmet previously.  I've got the 3/4 style.

Those Davida helmets are definitely good-looking, but not being ECE approved I rather spend my money in something better.

True enough.  I've actually been trying to wear my full face more this year.

I understand they're not the safest helmet, considering they're open faced (not to mention old technology) But they look so damn cool I just have to have one.  I've actually been considering a JP Helmet as well due to the high price of the Davida.  Anybody have any experience with, or heard anything about these JP Helmets?http://www.jphelmet.com/catalogue/content/m0003/m0003us.html

I hadn't seen those helmets before but they sure look cool and holy cow they're CHEAP.  I'd say it's cheap enough to give it a go for sure if that's the syle of helmet you want.  They even include goggles!  If nothing else it will look super cool as a shop decoration.

My daily helmet is a Davida Classic and I paid $250 OTD for it.  Not cheap, but EASILY the best of the type.  I got the John Cooper Signature edition, which is a bit more expensive.  The regular ones should be a bit cheaper.

Comfy, stylish, and it will work in a crash, (more for sliding/abrasion than impact) even if it's not DOT.

Wellll, it could be a great deal, or it could be "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".  $33 ?! AND it comes in a premium BOX?! :o How can you go wrong?  The box alone is sure to maintain it's value in the years to come.
I say buy the JP and give us a report. I'll donate a dollar.  Tell me where to send it.

Yeah, $33.00 is actually the shipping cost.  They have to ship them from Japan, so shipping is kind of steep, But $90.00 total cost if you live in the states is still $150 cheaper than a Davida, plus you get a free set of (cheap)goggles.  I'll let you know how it goes, if I decide to get one.

yoops! That ad is hard to read- I thought the helmet was $33.
I hate to say it, but the best combo of comfort and DOT protection is a Harley half helmet.  But they aren't cheap, either.

;D     As in Dallas Cowboys?   I don't think I run the risk beeing mistaken for a Football player here in Europe ..........I did like Jack Nicholson showing up with that Footballhelmet in Easy Rider though, so now i'm considering buying a Cowboys helmet.  ;)
