A Very Nice CL Score in Houston
« on: March 12, 2013, 07:34:47 PM »
My partner found this last night on CL, we drove out to a scrap yard and fell in love ! This bike was sold as a "WindJammer Honda" which actually it was ! No carbs, but has an air box,Old Ned says they put parts back on to sell it, (its a 75, I think) no seat , Vetter, RC pipe , motor is free , has great compression(thumb in hole tester) and shows oil pressure, bad, burned wiring. The points were so worn they barely moved, plugs look quite rich, awesome I think. I put a battery in her, ran some jumper wires , opened up the points a bit and she sparks up ! Oh yeah , the tank is awesome , very nice paint , no dents, no rust. Plan is to keep the patina of history sans Vetter and apes , and just ride her easy, let the bike tell us which way to go ! Thank goodness, another saved from the crusher!!       ( Last registered in 2000, I deliberately didn't say what we paid, we will after I hear her run , but it was crazy cheap ! 8)
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

Them look like some mighty tall Texas Longhorn style handlebars  :D  Hopefully the headlight bucket is still there but the chrome ring and bulb are always missing with those Vetters.  There is one thing on the shopping list.

Strange , this bike has the bucket and the rare Vetter rubber cover still intact over the bucket! We have plenty spares, I'm wanting to see how save able the RC pipe is going to be ! Such a nice find !
