Friction clutch plates
« on: March 16, 2013, 07:25:08 AM »
I am looking to replace my clutch before I put the engine back in the bike. When researching EBC friction plates I noticed that they say" not to be used with synthetic oil". Since a I have a '74 cb750k,I would like to use synthetic motorcycle 20/50 weight oil. What are your opinions on this. I know this will probably open a can of worms.

Thanks for any feedback, Bob

Why so keen on synthetic oil? Have you ever seen an independent test (pics please)? Can closed.

I'm not really set on synthetic oil. Being a novice, it just caught me by surprise that part suppliers would not try to upgrade their product to take advantage of the improvement in oil . With the amount of miles I ride, oil type isn't a big worry. I know I've read on this forum that many guys love synthetic oil. So I guess it's not a can of worms but rather a choice of what you like. Being a avid reader of the forum to gain as much info as I can, finding that people are very picky about everything about their bikes. It's just something that puzzles me.

Thanks for letting me bend your ear, Bob

Regular oil works perfect....it's more advanced than it was 30 years ago.... Castrol works perfect.... Check it on the dip stick after filling as an overfill causes hard shifting

My take is synthetic MOTORCYCLE labeled oil should be fine. I might question EBC though with that statement.
