Is the tang( the part you bend to adjust height) the part that pushes the pin in on the shut off jet

also how do you set the distance I know its from carb body but is it to the top of float or bottom of float

little link which hopefully you can see the jet  and what I am trying to explain

It is easier to set your float heights with your carbs on their side, with the hinge of the float, on the top.
So, compared to your video, you'll want to 'roll the bank of carbs to the left (counter clockwise) about 90deg.
In this position, the float valve should be all the way in the bore of the float seat.
The floats should now be 'hanging' from their pivot, and the 'tang' of the float, just resting on, but not depressing, the tiny post of the float valve.
It is in this position, you take a float height measurement, and adjust the tang if needed.

please take a look at the FIRST pictures in this thread.

thanks.... will turn sideways and adjust...... I take it the measurement is when its touching the pin but not pressing it in

in other words just about to press in the pin

thanks for your help

What made you think you had to check the float height?

hi mate here is my reasoning

this is a bike I am restoring, its not been on the road since 1983,  carbs were fully gummed up, floats were stuck ...... petrol is 83 vintage

It was on pods as well and want to go back to standard airbox ( another post shortly)

bike is being restored by myself complete novice and while cleaning the carbs thought it would be good practise to check everything........ plus i  wanted to learn as i was rebuilding.......plus its fun  8)
