CB750 K2 oil control orifice
« on: March 13, 2013, 11:06:15 PM »
This is the tiny little thing that looks like a jet of which there are two in the head for the oil feed to the top end. I've been working on my basket case K2 and one of these jets is busted, like the bottom tubular bit with the holes in it is broken off about half way. I assume it will still do it's job but I'd be happier if both were good. I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to make one, or, would it be a waste of time, would the busted one work ok. This item is no longer being made.

I lost one when rebuilding my engine, I bought a used one from Cycle Exchange. I paid $10.00.
They are getting very scarce. Good luck. Bob.

May be OK but for peace of mind it may be wise to source a known good one. There is a lot riding on those, like half a top end.

There are two different type of these things in the early K models, one is what I have which has the stem bit with the holes, the other type is about 3/8" round on top, same size hole but the bottom is a domed caper with lots of little holes in it. I'm thinking that the one I have with the stem broken about half way should still work properly as the main requirement is that the hole be clear of any blockage. Actually, back in the day we used to drill that hole out a tad with a jet drill and then put a washer behind the pressure relief valve in the oil pump for better lubing of the top end which I will do with this one as well. So I dunno, if I can find a replacement maybe I'll try making a couple of better ones? Thanks for your replies.
