Sorry guy it's just my opinion. You don't have to like my style either....

Nobody has a problem with you expressing your opinion but damn, you have to admit that reaction is a little wack. A little tact goes a long way.

Seriously don't be a douche. Wide tires + old time bikes = queer.

Well its clear that you know something about old bikes but its also glaringly obvious that you don't know everything... Wider tires {as opposed to just wide} work fine and allow the use of better tires with better modern compounds, I mentioned Terry's 836 with wider 18's front and back, in his EXPERIENCED words "best handling 750 i ever rode", he rides them pretty hard, besides, i wouldn't call a 140 and a 110 all that wide...... Someone piss in your Wheaties mate...?

I didn't call a 110 wide I said I run 110s. 140 on a stock rim is way wide. I don't even know if that's safe.

You must be having a really bad day dude, if you had read the whole thread, we are talking a 3.5 inch rear rim, in which case a 140 is perfect......

I was more or less commenting on the larger than 140 sizes like that 180. Again just my opinion but along with many other trademarks of the era, narrow tires finish off that classic look. Do what you will, I bet that engine loves turning the extra rubber.

900, 970 and 1000cc, mine won't have any problems, besides they are alloy rims  and i'm using lighter discs, the whole set up will be much lighter, i don't do things in halves..... 8)

I have a 180/55-18 Avon on my 75CB750, now I have to tell you I have a boxer hardtail frame from CycleX.  The motor is offset mounted about a half 1/4" to the left and I run an offset front sprocket.  The chain clears the left edge of the tire by 1/8" and I run a channelled tensioner pulley to prevent lateral movement of the chain.  Before I installed the channelled pulley the chain would rub the tire edge on hard acceleration or right turns.  Yes my bike is a custom barhopper and not something you would ride on a long journey, although I have gone on a 200 mile planned ride.  It wasn't that bad.

FIRST OF ALL THIS IS RETARDED. imho. Nice build but better suited for a v-twin.

Can't argue taste!  You like it or you don't...  I won't lose sleep over your viewpoint either way ;)

That's a little uncalled for, twistedengineering.  He didn't ask for opinions on the subject.  He asked for information, and is getting it.  There's no need to insult the man's choice in mods.

+1. If you don't have something nice to type, then don't.

IIRC, that is a past BOTM winner.

Michelin's Steve and it was in the 1980's. I am just about ready {yeah right ::)} to put my first K2 together, just chasing small stuff now, anyway i have a DID 3.5x18 rear and a 2.15x19 front, 140 will go on the 3.5 and a 100 on the 2.15... ;)
Are you looking for 140 tires Steve..?

No 140's for me, I do have a 130 on my K8 though. Was just curious, I know you're all about performance and wondered what tire you ran. Michelins are great tires but not popular here for these bikes.
I can't wait to see your bike come together!

It was a while back but i am sure it was a Michelin AM48, or something like that..? They had a sort of diamond or block type looking tread pattern...

I love how people like twisted post like that then backtrack and continue to make no sense and miss the point of the thread. You clearly have nothing to contribute here.

Definitely wider than you were talking about, but check out rustyolive's build thread:

Dude runs a 180 tire on a 5.5" rim on a 550. IIRC, he widened his swingarm to fit his big wheel/tire

Call me crazy but I just took off my rear wheel and while looking at the tire/chain/swingarm it looks like the chain is out wider than the swingarm. I ordered offset sprockets from cyclex but now thinking I can return them. I also measured the width of my swingarm at the deepest point my new tire could possibly be and it will either rub or have .1" of space total. Am I crazy to think that other than my brake stay arm the swingarm is the next contact point for a wide tire on a 76 cb750 because based on what I've read it should be the chain?

Yeah, I gotta agree. I love this bike, I don't think I could ride it comfortably but that takes nothing away from how nice it is for me.
