Looks like the parts bike is pretty nice to be just a parts bike.

There's a fellow who  not too long ago  took a nasty spill on the TAT on his SV650 and had to be be carted out on an ATV by rescue personnel. Had a fall down a 12 foot ledge... Was lucky to survive the spill.

So, the TAT is cool but has some danger.

Fender is done but pondering just how to get it mounted without scratching the shid out of it. Tape it off I suppose. Mount from bottom? Swivel up and through?

Going to be tricky as the top suspension mounts share with the fender bolts. Well, I'll take my afternoon nap and think on it. Over a 100 degrees already. I so hate summer.  ;) Better than winter. :P

Congrats on the successful reassembly.
Are there issues with the rear tire?

Any thoughts on exhaust sources or other things in the que to moving forward?

Fender was very hard to mount. Couple of marks but hidden. Not going to worry about it. Getting the top bolts in was the main issue as the suspension also mounts to the same bolts. Nightmare by yourself holding everything in place.

Waiting on rear spokes then assembly. Mufflers are here (new repos) and exhaust pipes ordered.

Long way to go. Might pack it up until next fall once the rear tire is on. May is going to be very busy for us so bike time is nill.

Today we finished up the front end with repaired fender, new brakes, brake cable and all suspension parts greased. New front tire, rim strip and tube. The front is done.

Then I fought the transmission seal. What a fight it was! Installing the new one was just as hard. Also replaced the kick starter shaft seal and clutch rod seal.

Installed the sprocket and chain. Ran the new clutch cable.

Installed the right side cover along with new pan head screws.

Next will be the rear wheel when the spokes arrive. The old girl is looking pretty good!  8)

Front end looks fanastic! Fender appears to match forks perfectly.

It's a very good match however the paint work could have been better IMO. Nothing suprising in my area.

Since these old petcocks seem to have issues I'm going to play it safe. I have rebuilt the old petcock but will use this kit and hang on to the old.

As in a previous post the cork style gasket fit but the rubber one did not. Love aftermarket stuff.  ::)

the prob is the jank rebuild kits for the original petcocks are crap.   Ive tried to rebuild 3 and only succeeded on one of them.  The aftermarket one you bought works great and still looks good.  Your doing an incredible job on the rebuild.  I have two dreams myself one showish and one for a future rebuild.  Hope you dont mine me posting a pic on your thread. Ill just post the links.  This thread is great motivation!!!

I don't mind one bit!  8) Feel free to post as I have fallen in love with this model.  ;)

I agree on the petcock kits. Nothing seems to fit. One thing I did figure out is to put vaseline on the parts when assembling. When you tighten the petcock to the tank the lever hardly moves and as you know, a thin piece of metal. I'm going to use the stock petcock but have little faith it won't leak.

As far as the aftermarket petcock it is well made however it does not have the stock thread pitch. As you well know those three screws are impossible to find. Odd pitch.  ::) The directions stated they have the correct screws for post 1965 models however my email's go unanswered. You can drill out the threads with a 5 mm bit and tap with a 6 by 100 thread. I have yet to do this.

If you will please look for a stock set of handlebars and one, if not two, rear foot rest brackets. About all I need to finish this up.

Thank you for the compliment.

What a week! My Lord we were busy. Closed the Travel Trailer up North and basically moved another house. Now it's time to sell a boat load of stuff.  :o

I worked a little more on Kasper last night and this morning. Wanted to relax and wrench for a bit but once again, everything fought me. I'm taking the weekend off!  8)

First, replaced a few bent spokes, installed a new rim strip, tube and tire. New cush drive rubber also.

New sprocket and chain adjuster bolts..

New brakes..

And assembled the rear end. A few pictures.

Looks good toy. If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.
Why you emptying the trailer?

We just could not get up there to enjoy it. I sold the travel trailer in two days. Surprised as I thought it would take for ever. Now I have a ton of household items, new cargo trailer and two quads to sell. Not many calls but it only takes the right one to buy.

Actually quite a bit yet to do. I turned it around today since it is now a roller. The shocks are pretty squeaky. Might have to take them apart. Handlebars won't tighten since they are not stock, waiting on carburetor and have the clutch to do.

Eventually it will get done.
