Toytuff, I agree with Retro, you do good work. Glad you have supplies of both to love on the Hondas you own.

I temporally installed the old exhaust. Next will be the carburetor, adjust throttle cable and fire her up.

Hope it runs!  ::)

Things that make you go hmmm...

When installing the kick starter pedal onto the right side case cover I had a 50/50 chance of getting the return spring right. I had a picture somewhere. Still looking for it.  ;D

As you can see it was on wrong. I thought something was off but rolled the dice. Engine turns, heard a thump.  :o

The positive from this assembly blunder is that I have the old exhaust installed. The new will go on after the bike is running and fine tuned. If the new muffler would of been installed it would of been heart wrenching.  ::) Can't buy one. Pair only and they are not cheap.

Lesson learned? Yeah, where is the picture!

You did the big dent with the kickstarter? Not very thick metal in the muffler or it was hit pretty hard. Well, like you said, better it happened on the old ones you are replacing.

Hope you can wash away all the bad experiences with the bike when you have her finally sorted out. Maybe the smiles you will have from riding her will soften the stings of the issues you have ran into.

Looking Good 8) 8) 8)

Your not the 1st to put the kicker-spring in the wrong way ;D ;D

I see the VJMC has a forum now...........you may be able to get a seat-trim strip and handle-bars through the club.

I like the effort and expense you put in to rebuild the brakes...........so many 'restorers' just do the cosmetics.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

OS, had a 50/50 chance on the lever. Thank the Lord it was the old pipes.

I found the forum but don't have my member number. Have the latest issue with the black bomber on the cover but no time to read it.

So, you have a bike from Honda from the 60s, 70s, and 80s... are you switching marques to Yamaha for the 90s with the 93 VMax you are looking at? Today, technologically speaking, Suzuki builds a more advanced bike than Honda. Their fuel injection systems and mpg numbers are better than many of what Honda is producing.

I really don't want to do another anything. Burnt out and frustrated.

I'm going to fuel up the CBX with 110 octane Sunuco leaded racing gas and blast off. $8.49 a gallon last week when I put a gallon in the 750.  :o

Actually I'm runninrg the gas through then filling before Summer storage. Would rather keep the leaded 110 in them over the Summer.

Sounds like the heat is getting to ya.  Plan a trip to the mountains where it is nice and cool!
Or, get the boat ready, that's what I'm doing later today.

No, not yet. Boat? No way, no intrest although I live half a block from the Colorado River and have free launch fees.  :P

Not a sun person at all. Makes you wonder why I live here huh?  :D

Last  night I was showing the cargo trailer, stepped on a thorn and drove it through my shoe and into my foot.  :o Right on the ball of it!

Still hurts, still limping and no ride today. Sucks.  :'(

It's kasper. I know it is.

I love those bags!  I'm strongly considering a sprung solo seat on mine, as well.  Gotta finish up the 650 before I do, though.

They are way cool. I know where there are two sets, one brand new but unpainted. Not cost effective.

Say, do you, or Old Scrambler, know how the fuel line from the left side to the right side routes?

I don't have the carburetor yet but I think it goes above. I'm fussy.  :P

I believe the connecting line can only be routed below the frame.  There isn't any room to put it above, and besides...we want you to cuss like everyone else when you want to remove the tank with gasoline in it. ;)

I relize it goes below the frame.  ???

Must go under the carburetor then back up. The old line was 11 inches long. I really need a service book.

The fuel line from the left should go just below the frame backbone.............if you want it to be stock and actually serve as a reserve.  Many current bikes are known to have a longer line that follows upward along the inner contour of the tank-tunnel.  That will allow you to remove the tank without disconnecting the line.

My '64 Dream was acquired in April of '66........it was black with white-walls, white Bucco bags and a windshield. The bags and shield came off in less than a week. Maybe their still in that garage in Milwaukee ;D ;D ;D
