Time for a storage unit?

I have to see if I can find some Barryman's carburetor cleaner. That slide is frozen. I think my only option is to cut the throttle cable.

Ordered all new cables anyway.

I have the same problem on my Dream- the carb slide is stuck solid. It's a goofy design... you can't disconnect the throttle without opening the carb. If you find a solution that doesn't involve chopping the cable, post it so my build this summer goes a little easier.

Tim over a Classic Honda told me to soak it out of there if possible. You don't want to break the slide where the cable attaches.

Told me to buy some Barryman's carburetor cleaner. I'm spraying choke cleaner in there all morning.

Getting a good buzz on to!

Raise the roof and install 2nd floor motorcycle storage cubbyholes/racks with hydraulic/forklift loading platform for easy access. Super insulated with heating and cooling system.

Yeah, that carb has seen some grime, crud, and gum.
How does the brakes look? At least you don't have white powder filled reservoirs...

What are you thinking about the spots that are worn through on the paint?
What protection coatings are there for use in battery area?

Time for some waxing yet?

How do you remove old tires without damage? (To replace/repair spokes)

Quick trip to Walmart for some Berryman's carburetor cleaner.

Tip: Save those left over Mico dinner trays. Great for holding/organizing parts. The one being used has a strainer so the yuck can flow through.

First, I poured a little down the throat..

Then watched the nasty stuff drip..(photo reference)

Then used the top portion of the dinner tray so things would flow..

Nope, just a gonna soak. Have to keep an eye on it. Directions say no more than four hours.

I'm just trying to remove the slide. So far it's winning.

I won round one!

This was about a two hour soak.

Loosing round two.

The float bowl is fighting me now.

Done for the day. Very productive. Everything else around the house has gone to shid but progress on casper.

Now that I think about it, I think I remember there's a pair of skateboard moves called the Casper and Anti-casper. That wouldn't be sacrilege, would it?

Anyways, to stay on topic, I saw you cut your cable. What's your source for new cables? Would there be any way to maneuver the Berryman's can so you could salvage the cable?

Cables are cheap. I always replace mine. This one was not worth keeping as are the others.

Throw the carb in a plastic ziploc and then in the freezer... Thermal changes can sometimes help.

If you can get the right ends/fittings, then often new cables are the answer.
Unless the period correct nazis pick on your non-gray sleeved cables...
Does the CA77/CA78 have the sliding tab throttle arrangement?

You can get new grips that look like the originals that aren't rock hard, they are firm...
Carpal tunnel can be really aggravated by vibrations. Tendonitis as well.

Dealing with numb fingers is OK, it is the pain that tendonitis brings that bothers me. Time to go take some B vitamins to see if that helps in a couple weeks...

Cajun tilapia baking in the oven should be done...time to go check it out...

Rather than soaking some gummed-up stuck carburetors, try a little heat. A heat gun works good and even a hair dryer might be enough. Spray some WD40 to help it along. Those other strong chemicals can be nasty.

Got the heat gun out and heated the bowl up. Came right off.

Dis-assembly tomorrow and a good soak.
