Careful with those carb bowl float/valve posts, they look a bit compromised with oxidation, the Berrymans I used on a C70 carb really softened the posts or they were already getting punky first.

Jim here on the forums does microwelding of all kinds of metals using TIG and laser welding equipment for working with fine stuff if you need his services.

Boy! What a day! Between working on casper then a nice 50 mile ride on the CBX then I find a new OEM front Lester wheel! When did I have time to work?

This morning was more cleaning. I got the motor to look pretty good, polished on the tank for a bit. I always like to step back and see what direction I am going. So, I mounted the tank and set the seat on the frame.

Yeah, we are going stock look on the seat. White?

Probably black.

You need an old school body guy who knows how to lead if needed. I am guessing it would take a day to reshape that rear portion of the fender with the right tools and get it ready for primer. The dings in the front, not so hard to deal with. The lip if I recall is rolled so it makes it more difficult to work if you don't grind it off and then put a bead back on with the Mig... Don't know how you would deal with it otherwise if you aren't replacing the damaged metal with a new section of steel.

Bike has(is) cleaning up very nicely tt, you make a good buy and when it is running and sorted it will bring smiles to your face on rides I am sure.

Toy...........very few of these bikes were white-on-white. Black seats predominate but red and blue were also in the mix. Right now some fairly good quality reduction plastic tank-badges are offered on ebay at a very reasonable price. Good originals still go for $100s.

I've been known to bend a little metal..........but that crease is more than I can tackle.

Dang, that's to bad. The crease is bigger on the other side. I'll continue the search. Some old school body man needs a project and bingo money somewhere!

The metal tank badges were sold in the '80s by dealers as replacements for the original plastic units. I bought an inventory from a small dealer and while I was loading it he told me about how his dad used to give a badge to a kid for a Christmas present. I was at the national VJMC rally in Michigan in 2006 and a fairly clean CA77 showed up with a for sale sign. I had no room in the van..........but a friend had room in his trailer. I bought the bike.......removed the very nice original badges........and sold the remainder for $100 less. That was when originals were un-obtainium and good re-pops were selling for $150 or more.

Thats repairable alright, there was an auto body guy not far from me that used no filler {lead only} , he worked metal in some amazing ways, real old school, they may be hard to find but they are out there.

hmmm...I like the look of the black seat. A good contrast against the knee pads and wheels. Red would take your eyes off the whole of the bike, and white, well, I cant get out of the house without getting a white shirt dirty
