Toytuff, am I missing the dent, was it already there , or was it made larger? An earlier photo shows something in that region of the pipes.
Odds are you aren't alone on that kind of damage to the pipe. My C70 had a few scars before I got it on the side and it collected a few while I have owned it. It is a runner, not a show bike though.
You are being pretty hard on yourself. Old bike parts can be hard to find and it takes time to do so. You have made incredible progress on this bike in a short time.

Hope the parts arrive soon for you to get her running and enjoy her with her character until she can get the other new bits you have planned.

Casper does look incredibly good and far cleaner and better than when she rolled up to your driveway.

On my Dream, the crossover fuel line went under the frame but over air intake tube.

David, it's all good. No, the kick shaft made the dent. Spring on backwards. Old exhaust so no big deal. There going in the trash when/if I can get the baffles out. Have a line on stock handlebars. Desperately looking. The CL bars look good but not original.

JJ, thanks. That makes sense. My 350G twin had the crossover tube. Pain to remove as gas gets everywhere. The tank will be last to go on as I have a aux tank I hang from the ceiling. Worth having.

As of now a set of mufflers with baffles will ship on the 30 TH. Carburetor done this Saturday. Going to run down there on the CBX and do most myself. It's time I learn and honestly, they are pretty simple on a Dream. I'm going to reuse the jets as I have been told the kit jets are not as close in tolerances over stock jets.

Have to go to PHX on Monday returning Tuesday night. Hope to have it running by end of next week. Final adjustments and test ride. I want to see what the clutch does as I am sure the plates are very dry. The cover has to be removed anyway for paint and seals.

Dropped some 110 octane fuel in the CBX and went for a nice cool morning ride. Great for the soul.

To be continued.

The foot rest brackets were bent so I got those straightened out and in the proper position. The right side rear foot rest bracket is still bent but Corky, the guy I bought it from, will be in the area first part of June and bringing me a straight bracket. He wants to see the bike.

Maybe I will sell it back to him!  ;D

New rubber all the way around. The rear peg rubber was ordered from Clause Studios, front are OEM Honda.

Right..

Nothing new to report however the one muffler was in fact off and the baffle would not go in. More wasted time and money.

If someone could please measure the distance from end to end on stock handlebars. I bought a set on flea bay but they appear shorter than stock. This would go along with the rest of this build to date. Did I say I won't do another Dream?

Never mind. These didn't work either. I give!

Insulate the garage and install a heat pump or AC system.
Maybe some time away from it will heal the wounds this restore has inflicted.

I suggested it to him last year, needs to run a 30 amp dedicated circuit for a mini split.

Move to San Diego......perfect weather all year!

Actually there are other issues.

A good friend and coworker of 18 years was diagnosed with throat cancer. Last Wednesday was the operation but it has spread to far. Couldn't do anything.

Next is "severe" radiation treatments. His wife's words. Going to last 2 to 4 months. If treatments do not work than less than a year to live.

Guess I'm just not in the mood to do much of anything at the moment. We are working on fund raisers and ways to help all we can. Several trips to UCLA Medical Center also planned. He rented a place close to the Hospital so we are working on the food end of it.

Just such a bummer. I'm sure several here have gone through the same thing so I am not looking for sympathy. Just kind of slaps you in the face sometimes.

I want to help in any way I can. If it were me he would do the same.

Good friends are far and few between.

Life should be about the relationships we have. Life is richer for the experiences with others. I am glad you are investing in your friend's life and being there for him.

Thanks guys. Maybe if I kept busy I wouldn't dwell on it so much.

He worked 41 years, retired in July of 2010. Quite honestly it does not look promising.

The future is not in our hands so Mikki and I will make the best of the situation. About all we can do at this time.

I wanted to get my mind off things so worked some more on kasper. My friend is on hold waiting on the insurance company. Very positive attitude. Hoping for the best.

I usually get up around 0300 hrs. and turn on the window fans. We are under a high heat Waring until Sunday.

This was at 1400 hrs. today.

First I installed the carburetor. Not easy as everything is up inside the frame. I have to remove it tomorrow which involves removing the battery, air cleaner, breather hoses and air tube. Something not right.

Next I worked in the clutch area. The plates were stuck but surprisingly had plenty of oil on them.

Removed then installed.

If you look closely at the front oil filter assembly you will see a small hole at the 12 o'clock position. When you remove the clutch cover there is a small pin that goes in this hole. As you can see it's easy to miss but you have to have it.

Adjusted clutch and cleaned up the clutch cover. Also polished the front oil filter cover.

Before..

And after with new OEM screws..

Also greased everything. The boys down at Harris Motors had the old style grease gun.  8)

Quite a bit of work in the last 3 days. I put in some new plugs and she fired right off! Sounds great!  ;D ;D ;D

Like I said earlier I have some issues with carburetor cabling as I can not get it to idle. Revs real high so I'm sure it is something I messed up in the slide area.

Did I say it runs! Great feeling when you consider the time and money.

I'm pretty jazzed right now.

Toytuff, congrats on the success in getting her running!!
The throttle slides can be fiddly. Check the cable to carb top. Polish the sides of the slide also.

Today I had to remove the clutch cover. Yeah, drain the oil..again.  >:(

The cover had a nick in it and a little scuffing on the side case. Some emery cloth smoothed out the surface and used a little sealer in the area. Will let it sit overnight and dry.  ;D

Actually the shop got up to 104 degrees so no problem there!  :o

I also found the issue with the carburetor. I have ordered a lot of stuff from Classic Honda Restoration but quite honestly you roll the dice if the parts will work. Might have to look for another vendor.

The cable is to short! Just about 1/8 of an inch. Turned all the way in it still holds up the slide.  >:( >:( >:(

About the only option is to remove the cable and "try" to cut off the end of the adjuster bolt in the middle of the cable. This would allow the cable it's self to lengthen. Can't use the damn thing now so what the heck.

I really get frustrated when you buy parts that don't work. They ask a lot of money and the quality, fit and finish leave something to be desired. Unfortunately Mother Honda discontinued most of the parts. If you want to do a Dream model just beware.

Better yet buy one already done. You'll be glad you did.

Well, Motion Pro can build you a set of new cables and sometimes they don't need the originals, just photos of the ends. They can build them to the length you specify and they have the gray color outer sheath or the black.  Might be the way to go given the issues with cables.  Cheaper than buying multiple cables that don't fit until you find one that does...

Bike looks really good Toytuff. She's coming together and when she does, then maybe some of the joy you get from her will ease the frustration and pain and anger she's caused.  They can't all be easy or just anyone would do this stuff.
