Is this right.
« on: March 17, 2013, 10:14:54 pm »
Today I was cleaning the front pegs on my newly acquired basket case 750 K2 and noticed they are different. Is this how it's supposed to be or is one of these a wrongun? This can't be right coz the way they are now one foot is further forward than the other.

I'm not sure - but wouldn't one be diff to accommodate the rear brake foot pedal?

It is normal, been a few frames that photos show this recently, it drives those attention to detail nuts over the edge. Want to really twist your head around it, look at the 70s BMW boxer motor designs.

My 350 twin has a good couple of inches difference side to side.  The right side is set forward to allow the kick start to do its thing.

Thanks for the replies fellas, it doesn't seem right to me, even if it is so I see no reason why it should be so on the K2, so much so that I'm willing to take to the longer one with whatever it takes to make them the same. I don't see the brake pedal needing the extra length and it's just stupid to have one more forward than the other. It's not like the extra length goes straight up, it's more forward. I'm still hoping someone who has one of these can have a look n report back.

I was always under the impression that the 750's had the pegs offset for the same reason as the 350, to allow clearance for the kicker.  FYI, my 650Z has no kick starter and the pegs are even ;D.

Thanks for the welcome Johnie, well there's proof positive, I guess I'll just leave em as they are then although mine are bent somewhat, I'll need to fire up the oxy. Thanks to all who replied.

No, why would I buy a 750 when in standard trim the 650 is just as quick 8), it also came standard with dual front discs, rearset pegs, electronic ignition and a charging system that actually works ;D.

They are different from the factory , and I have seen many with a slight forward bend on the right peg from repeated strikes from the kicker, usually you will notice some matching marks on the peg bracket and the kicker . Hung me up also , just like the left shock on my K8 being about 20mm out more!
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !
