CB550 Exhaust Questions
« on: April 06, 2013, 10:45:15 PM »
Hey guys... I need a new exhaust for the 1978 550. The original 4-4 is shot and I can't find an affordable OEM replacement that is in good shape. So, what I have found in my price range ($450) is MAC and Carpy's is an option in the unfinished form but I am not a fan of the sound. Are there any other options?

I've heard good things about Motad, but know little about them. Do a little research. A bit above your budget but may be worth it. My 550F came with a Mac muffler and I could not wait to take it off.

I bought a used Mac, cut it just past the collector and used the SS rail of a pool ladder to make a mid pipe. Then made a flange for the end and use a GSXR muffler, cost $200. If you can weld or know someone who can you can make a nice pipe.

Brent, I' m drooling over that 500, fantastic job, still have it?  I would love a copy of that photo for inspiration! I've been considering the Motad too, but would like to know more on the Marving.

Hi,
I will get my carbs synced and get a video posted this week. Looking forward to riding season again. Although it snowed again last night :-(
