How to remove tacho needle.

Can someone tell me, do you just pull it off or unscrew? I tried pulling it off just with my fingers but it didn't budge.

Yup.  Use the two spoon meathod.  Put the bottom of the spoons on the screws that hold the faceplate on, the tips of the spoons under the needle as close to the stem as possible, and press down on the end of the spoons.  The needle will pop right off.

Well. I've taked about a dozen tachs/speedos apart.

The spoon trick works but I've also broken the drive needle off 2 out of 12.

I use a bit of acetone or MEK on a fine brush to dab it on the shaft where it joins the needle.

Seems to loosen them up on the shaft.

I used a screw driver between the cross bar and base of the speedo needle. Seemed a more solid place to pry than the needle itself.
