When I worked at a Honda dealership we would deal with these same problems all day long, one bike after another.
The owners had tried everything they said and it would still not run right.
All we did was give the bike a basic tune up with new points and condensers and any other routine stuff.
The bike would run perfect and the customer was amazed at how well it ran.
The customer would always finally ask ,what was wrong?
We did not have time to find out ,so we just told them we gave it a standard tune up.
Sometimes we had to adjust the carbs because after the owner and all of their friends had turned all of the screws on the carbs, we had to just turn them all back to factory settings is all.
