can you tell me please where you got your rev counter gauge from it looks very cool

also did you cut the key loop off the top yoke ? did it need strengthening

will keep watching looks a great bike in the making

tried the new parts on. also smoothed and polished the stock GSXR steering tube to make it match the triple tree. still need to do the other side. and the lower, stock part of the triple..

Is the GSXR steering stem a direct match for the 550?  With the 750, it needs a longer stem.

on the 550 its a direct match. change bearings, add a steering stop, voila.

Mini update.
brake discs arrived.. 320mm, so i need to add a small spacer for the caliper to clear.


a friend reluctantly posing with the new bits.


also started with the electronics.
padded batterybox will be made fuses and relays mounted to it.

the regulator... does it need to see air flowing over it to function without overheating?
any tips here would be helpful

You could tuck it in under the neck of the frame above the coils, the way Hannibal did. Of course everything he did was custom machined so...

Subb'ing on this thread. I'm loving what you're doing with this.
Not even 12 hours ago I was looking up Gsxer's front ends and that Cognito triple tree, doing the math  ::). It's nuts that I land on your thread a few minutes ago and get to see what it would look like. Looking forward to see where this goes.

Just caught up with your tread , nice job . Would that rectifier/ regulator get enough air if it was mounted on the underside of where it is in your pic?  And still wire up under the seat or are you looking for a super clean, nothing visible  look?

Mount the regulator where the factory horn sits. It's close to the coils, in open air and you can move your horn anywhere else. Put it under the seat area, on the underside of the seat pan.

not really sure how hot it gets and therefore how much cooling air it would need.
I would prefer to have it completly hidden, for a super clean look.

slowly starting to look like a bike again..  in a week or so, the rear wheel will be laced up(waiting for spokes).

made a tank strap out of stainless steel, drilled and countersunk along the top, just for looks. spring loaded clamp in the front.

happy with the look of this part :)


seat welded up.
happy with the results.. just smoothing and polishing left on it now.







this stock dust cover over the steering bearing was ugly.


a new part was machined to replace it :D


also got spacers for the calipers to get them to clear the 320mm discs, and plugs for the rear of the frame. the spacers are alu, and the plugs are steel and will be welded in, and then grind down the weld.




details take a LOT of time.. but the devil is in the details..  i hope?
