Perfect setting for the Land Barge Terry :P....Larry

Ha ha, I wouldn't have chosen any other bike for the ride yesterday Larry! (unless there's a bike with a roof and doors on it, that is...............) ;D

I have a little GEO Tracker Terry.  It is almost like a bike with a roof and doors....Larry

Ha ha, as I was riding along I was mentally designing a tubular frame with a sliding roof Larry, when I'm an old retiree with too much time on my hands, providing that no-one beats me to the punch, I think I will have a 'Wang with a sliding "Rain Roof". ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The Land Barge has been made since 1975 ::)  It is an overstuffed, oversize motorcycle on steroids(in that it keeps getting bigger every year-look at the present size :o).  I worked at Riff's Cycle Center back when the GW first came out, they were a fantastic bike but when Honda started stuffing all the touring paraphenalia on it I came up with the Land Barge nickname.  Just a piece of my historical info :P...Larry

Still got to hook up throttle cables and the choke cable, but just finished putting carbs back on the Goldwing.

Beautiful.

I polished up my fork lowers Sunday while fitting new seals. I really need to do the valve covers, intakes, and belt covers too.

I will probably have the carbs off this coming weekend, so maybe I'll finally do it then. But then again I've waited 2 years already.

dhall, nice and clean looking...
Congrats on the carb job...they are similar to the VB variant of CV carbs used on my CX500. The press in jets (emulsion tube) is a pain to remove...

Paul

Is the Pope a Catholic? Are the Kennedy's Gun-shy? Do the bears schidt in the woods? Am I a loud mouthed alcoholic?

Ha ha, yeah mate, I need a good engine for my '77 naked, 40 bucks is an amazing price, but I wonder if they're any good? I'm thinking that the shipping might kill the deal though, the 1200 engine I bought for 600 from Michigan ended up costing $2000 with shipping and a heap of other bullschidt charges. Luckily it was in perfect condition, but I'd hate to gamble 1400 bucks and end up with a dud?

The engine I pulled out of mine was still running on all 4, not blowing smoke and was quiet, but it had a "knock" due to ruined main and big end bearings caused by the previous owner neglecting to do an oil and filter change in 10 years and maybe 90,000 miles? I'm thinking that I might be better off cracking the cases and doing a rebuild, then I'll only need to import some carbs (probably Murray Feldman's Mikuni conversion) an exhaust system and some other cosmetic parts? Those 40 buck engines sure are tempting though, are you gonna go take a look at them? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah, but $1000 asking price!  You will spend $1500 getting that one rebuilt and back on the road and your going to have spent a lot for about what a nice original bike would cost..

Yeah, impressive...

It does not have enough shine to serve as a Great White fishing lure...so I guess you are right, an expensive boat anchor.

As much as I'm proud that you've finally come out and admitted that you've been a closet 'Wang fan for some time now Steve, I think you can do considerably better, for less money. Of course, he said "Lets trade", so you've a unique opportunity to unload your ugly-arsed F1, for that POS. What a resto project that will be! ;D

Yeah Stev-o just take your time. If I had jumped on the first GW I found I would of got a bike with at least a 1/2 a dozen parts from different year Wings thrown on it and the worst being a 77 motor and a 75 model bike. Instead I walked away from this one and in a couple of weeks ran across just what I was looking for a all original 77 black GL1000 ;D  Wangs are quite plentiful especially the 1100 and 1200. The naked 75-77 GL1000 are a little harder to find, but are still out there.

Stev-O, you saw your dream Wing on the Abomination thread, have you wired the seller already?
Just paint a white racing stripe down the center of the Glad bag seat to make it a beauty...patriotic, a bike a mother would love.
Or, is it only a mother would love?
I get them confused.

BAH!!

Finally broke down and put a Vetter on mine. The upright riding position was killing me at 70+ mph... the Windjammer is a huge improvement in that department. A lil' hot for TN summers though. It's the Jammer-Jammer Compromise.

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.
