dhall they are aftermarket Lester Wheels. They are period correct and I got them for about the same price I would have had to pay to respoke the original wheels.

Put new valve core in(if I had done this right off the bat none of this would of happened)

at myself. But other than scratching up the original aluminum rim some

the Wing and I came out of this OK thank God. Tire is fine. Bead sealed back on rim with no issues and has held air for several days. Took the Wing down the road after work and all seems fine.

I have a 77 parts bike w/title.
I really like the black.
I pulled the carbs on the LTD and smooth again. Rust in all the seat screens.

I was just talking to a friend of mine, a former Harley Road King owner that fell on hard times (thanks divorce court) and had to sell his bike a couple years ago. He reloacted to Albuquerque last year and is thinking about buying a bike for around town and some touring. Based on my experience he is thinking an SOHC4 750 or a naked wing (he came with me to Rockbox a couple years ago and met Sean Barney, Old Scrambler and a few other guys from here).

We were chatting last night about the price of bikes in ABQ vs Chicago and I pulled up Chicago CL and what do I see, a '77 GL1000, fully dressed with a Vetter III and Lesters in southern Wi for $975 (asking). Damn, if I had some spare cash I would have taken the day off and gone up to buy it today. The V-III retains the stock turn signals, so convertin back to a naked bike is easier than with an SS like my last Wing had.

Oh so tempting.

As for my buddy, we stumbled on an '87 Concours with 61k miles in ABQ that (according to the ad) runs well for $500. The pictures are dim, but it appears to be in good shape, and it has the factory bags. I told him he should buy it today. We'll see what happens.

I have an 05 gl1800. Two word: fuel injection. Really any wing is nice. But the 1800 is the best in my opinion.

There was a limited edition 1200 that had FI too I think. Carbs are not a big deal if you ride your bike regularly.

The problem with the 1500's is that they are much heavier than the 1000's and the original bikes aren't exactly light. The 1500 weighs almost 800 pounds dry. I have no doubt that the engine is great and that once you are moving it is lighter on its tires than you would think, but I just don't want to ride a bike that big and heavy.

My dad had a 1200 and he liked it better than the 1500 that he currently owns, had a full air suspension so it could sit lower, but it was still too tall for him, so he bought a new 1500. He still has it today and loves it.

The 1500's and 1800's are obviously more refined than the 1200/1100/1000, but they were all great in their day. I'd like a naked spoke wheeled 1000 with an 1800 engine shoe-horned into it, that'd be a fun bike! Cheers, Terry.

but when I got home my wife handed me a envelope that came in the mail and it was the title for my 77 GL1000. Now Im the official owner of this fine machine

Rode the LTD to Chugwater, Wy. for a chili cook off. Around 325 round trip 90 @ 5,000 rpm what a smooth running bike. I even hit a ton catching up to my friends.
