Was the chili worth the 300 plus mile trip ;D I agree Paul these early naked Wings are smooth and powerful. I took my 750KO out this morning and came back and jump on the GL1000 and took it for a spin also. When Im out and about on any of my bikes I general take pics, so here is another of my naked GL1000. Lets see some of your LTD on the road Paul 8)

Yes the chili was worth it. They had red and green chili and salsa. The car show had 5 cars in it. I voted fro a nice 38 olds.

I I can do that. I'll take a ride to Red Rock's about 10 min from the house.
It's not pretty yet but runs great. Don't make fun of the seat it is comfy on those long rides.
I'll be rolling them all out the garage today so I will also get a shot.

I have to admit that I really like the early naked Goldwings.   Don't care much for the later decked out models.
I think my favorite year is 75.  I've never ridden one, so I'm wondering how an early model wing compares to
a CB750.   Lots of extra weight there, so how do they compare acceleration wise?  How about handling?
Is the engine totally vibration free?

I grew up with the CB750 in the 70's and its my favorite Honda and always will be. I guess thats why I have 3 ;D But their no match for  my 77 Wing  as far as comfort. The Wing is  a Cadillac. I 've rode mine less than 1000 miles so far since getting it on the road not long ago but I love it. I haven't opened it up but I have turned up the throttle some through the gears  and it will go believe me. Its a bigger bike than the 750's of course but I like it. Im 5'9 about 185 and have no problem with it. Is the motor vibration free you ask, well just about KC. Its the only bike Ive ever rode that the mirrors a crystal clear and you can see whats behind you no matter what speed your running.

you can stand a nickle on end on the valve cover. Now that is smooth.
Second fastest motorcycle in production at the time 1975.
Lots low center of gravity.
If you are coming out to Co you can ride mine and see what you think.

 I have a wish list of bikes I'd like to own and the Goldwing has always been on there.  I have been looking at Kawasaki Z1's
as maybe my next restoration, but the prices are sky high.  The Wings are still pretty reasonably priced, and the more I look
at them the more they appeal to me.  One of these days there might be one in my garage.

Thanks for the test ride offer.  Would be a great excuse to ride my 750 out to Co!
I just met a guy last week that has a 77Wing and when he found out I had a 71 CB750 he
wanted to get together and ride.   He is recovering from surgery and cant ride for another
month.  We are supposed to get together some time in July, so I'm hoping I'll get to take
a ride on his.  If its as nice as you guys say, I may just bite the bullet and start looking for
one.

Been waiting on your pics. Ain't nothing wrong with that Paul. Nice naked Wang. I like the rock formations to. How long have you had it. What all have you had to do to it. Do you know much history on the bike. Mileage? Not making fun of the seat like you said, but use it for only your longest trips and keep it out of site until then ;D and get you the factory seat back on there. My stock seat is pretty comfortable.

I got it in 2009 for 650 needing a wiring harness, exhaust and a clutch. He was told the engine needed to be pulled for the clutch. He didn't want to do the work and needed a Harley payment.

I had the exhaust and another one like new. Fuse box and a donated clutch witch the engine does not have be pulled to do a clutch.
I had it running about 2 hours after I got it home.
No other history.

the most i have paid is 2200 for the 84 other than that the 650 was the most I have spent on an early Wing.

Looks like he mounted a luggage rack on his gas tank. Never saw that before. Looks like a nice price for that bike.

KC, a properly sorted stock GL1000 (at least the 75-77 wire wheel versions) will leave a stock SOHC/4 750 for dead every day of the week and twice on Sunday in a straight line.

But the 750 will make it up on the twisty bits. Destpite the low center of gravity from the flat engine and the under seat fuel tank, the GL is much heavier than the 750 and physically larger. It is more nimble than you would think, but it is best suited to the highway and long sweeping turns rather than someplace like The Dragon.

I would never have guessed that the wing would be quicker with all the extra weight.  I'm going to have to take my friends for a test
drive for sure.

yes there fast. It was second fastest motorcycle in production in 75. The only thing faster wast the Z1.
