I have a bad feeling...
« on: March 26, 2013, 09:36:00 AM »
The bike is running great.
I chased down every gremlin: jetting (new cam), cleaned a stuck timing advancer, straightened the timing advance shaft, got the gauges to stop jumping, got the front brake to stop rubbing, , fixed a tear in the seat...
Gave it a tune up, new chain, tires are good, put zirks in the swing arm, new plugs, lubed the cables, tweaked the front suspension a bit, cleaned the hell out of it, etc...
The only problem left is minor weeping from the head bolts.
It runs great, rides great, looks great.
This is the most dialed I've ever had it.

Something major is about to blow. I just know it.

These 40yr old Hondas are bullet proof.  Take that bad girl on a cross country trip to show the demons you are not fcuking around.

They say a light bulb always burns brightest just before it blows, so I'm with Brad mate, I'm guessing it's just about to let go big time!

Oh, and while not trying to start an argument with Lovell, but SOHC Honda's are far from "bulletproof". I've seen plenty self destruct over the years, and the first sign is usually a minor weeping from the head bolts..............
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Slightly tounge in cheek Terry but for 40 year old bikes they are pretty awesome.  I have had days where my 2010 Scrambler wouldn't start then the 2002 Bonnie wouldn't start and I would ride the 72 Honda to work.  Only problem so far with the Honda was caused by me.

Yeah mate, they're great bikes, for sure. Just be careful if you see a minor weeping from the head bolts, it's probably terminal............. ;D

Somewhere here is a thread about refilling the dash pot with silicone oil. That's what keeps it from bouncing - assuming all else is OK
