bought a van and got a bike for free!
« on: March 24, 2013, 03:44:04 PM »
i had been eying my parent's neighbor's van for a few years. it was always parked out by their barn and never seemed to move. a few weeks ago, i noticed it was parked up by the house. i asked the owner if it was for sale. he said maybe and took my name and number(didn't know if he actually wrote it down). he called me back in a few days, he had decided to sell it. when went to look at it we got to talking. said i was into old hondas. he told i could just have a cb500 that was in his barn. it's rough, but the engine is supposedly bored out and he's giving me a title. got the  69 chevy van and the bike for $750! just goes to prove, it never hurts to ask if something is for sale AND you never know what's in someones barn.

Those vans are killer!  I'd love to have one but they're usually rusted through up here.

Great van. I owned a 68 Chev window van and what a great little truck. 250/6, three on the tree, man we put lots of miles on that baby. It was around North America a couple times!

go through it mechanically first, then patch body and rust spots. after that who knows??? def want to find some mags and new seats. think i'm just going to keep the back wide open for hauling and swap meets. maybe lay down a wood floor. thinking a sea foam green for a color. nothing to over the top, but classy and utilitarian.

Mystery Machine. We had the dodge when I was a kid, I always got the warm seat. The v-8 was better set up for manifold cooking. We would wrap potatos in foil and put them on the manifold and they'd be cooked by the time we got to the campgrounds.

I like mid engine vans, the toyota van wagons are awesome.
