The later model 750 arms are longer.

Define "later model". Will you have to run longer shocks?

Any advantage on doing this? i.e. is the 750 swing arm thicker?

Seems to me the 750 swingarm I tried was shorter, but I'm old and forgetful.  Maybe it was an early one???

Yes the earlier 750 arms (until 76K) were about an inch shorter than the 500/550's. The 77/78 750K's were longer & a bit wider. I think the 77/78 F models too, but I'm not absolutely sure on that.

I remember discussion on this very topic, search around, the complete answer is here.

78 is longer and wider they all will bolt up but I would not shorten the 550 wheelbase if anything make it longer

That's interesting. So would running a 1978 750 swing arm on my CB500 (if it even bolts on) allow me to run a wider wheel? Wondering also if the sprockets would line up... anyone?

Bringing this thread back from the dead!!! The only reason I would want to run a cb750 swingarm is because I would fancy a disc brake in the rear. Does the caliper mount to the swingarm or how does that work?

Hi
No the caliper is located on the rear axle, with a brake stay arm to the swingarm.
