I also made a bracket for my gauges and the headlight, think it is looking pretty cool now.

I still need to figure out the rearset issue and whether I am going monoshock or using the stock springs. I do like the stock look though.

At it again. Started rewiring it again to make it even cleaner and to match the colors. Last time around I used red a little too much.

Stuck the old swingarm on while I do this. Still need to fab the bracket for the 636 swingarm.

Bike had to be put on hold while I was on a spending freeze from the wedding and house buying. Now, I'm back in full swing.

Just saw this and noticed I stole your project name, sorry.  Looks like I am in search for another name.  Nice build by the way!

I should actually change mine. I was going to go only white and gold but at this point really only the carbs, forks, and shocks are gold now.

Thanks BTW!

There's enough Gold and Gold Diggers out there for everyone! ;)  I just remembered vonvendatta's build too, when it revived this morning.

Finally got my regulator rectifier combo. This took way to long. Now for the weatherproof connectors to come in and I'll be ready to start it this weekend!

So it has been quite a while since I've updated this thread.
A lot has changed, including a raise so I am able to not just half ass everything.

I ended up w
Ordering a wiring harness from sparckmoto. They did a custom harness at a reasonable rate.
Ordered the bigger under seat pan from cognito moto.
Getting entire frame, hub and small pieces powder coated.
Sent the carbs off to a forum member to rebuild and powder coat as well .
Bought a new 4into1 from Mac.
A ton of new small parts like levers, grips, mounts.
New mini gauges.

About to buy new starter solenoid, front hub from cognito, front and rear rims/spokes, rearsets, headlight, and not sure about the seat yet.

I will post photos of it coming together so check back in two weeks!

Here is what was sent to the powder coat er.

I was able to fit the ignition switch right in after grinding down the corners and using a modded washer for the top, looks almost stock.

Installed the coils to see how well they fit and got the new Dyna s ignition it there.

Soon I'll install the wiring harness from spark moto and then the new exhaust. I can't wait to fire this thing up again!

Bought a label maker!
The control switches are from a '05 636 which I just took apart, cleaned and painted.

Today was a great day for labeling all the wiring. I labeled 95% of all wires including gauges. At this point I am just waiting on the carbs to arrive and the bullet connectors. I might through on the forks and post a picture.

If you have any questions about my wiring or the gsxr front, let me know.

So last night I made quite a purchase. Devin from cognitomoto talked me through the front hub, rims and spokes so I purchased all of the needed parts for that.

Last night's order included:

17x3.5 front sun rim in black

17x4.25 rear sun rim in black

Fancy spokes for both

Front gsxr hub and all bearings/seals needed

New 5 3/4 headlight and special bracket

Throttle cable setup

Tarozzi rearset kit for the 500.

All I have left now is having the tank painted and getting the seat.

In the final stages! Roughly another month and I should be on the road.

Cha-ching! I bet that purchase left a mark on the wallet  :D
That might be an understatement. Budget is 5k from buying the bike to completion; I keep a spreadsheet of every expense whether it is an oil filter or a screw. I don't know how some of these guys do it under 2k.

only when working on it, my shed is a bit small. I use the old wheels to tote it around but for pictures sake.. :D.
If in the event it does stay outside over night, I have a bike cover.

Put new bushings in. What a pain in the ass to get the old ones out. I used a deep socket and extension which took a good 15 minutes of hammering. The new ones I got from an eBay seller from Germany for $20 shipped. They slipped right in after being in the freezer.

I also sealed the tank today which wasn't such a pain. In fact, it was pretty simple.

Those carbs do look good.  Mine are 1/2 painted black on my 550.  I like the crinkle PC.

What are you plans for the tank?  It looks pretty good minus the one dent on the top left.  I wonder if you could have a paintless dent repair pop out that dent.  If so, it would look good with some simple clear coat or a racing stripe and clear.

Originally I was going to paint it a cream color with a black stripe but I like your idea of leaving it and still doing the stripe. Currently I am at the $4500 out of the $5000 budget with tires and all. So, I might hold off on the tank painting. I actually like the metal look with those forks anyway.

Cognitomoto just sent an update saying he is aiming for end of next week to send out my wheels! Pretty stoked to see them on the bike. Also bought the light brown DCC brat seat that I am waiting on the mail for.

Updated video of it running.

Sounds funky on the phone but on person that rev sounds awesome!

Nice video!  It starts right up and runs steady.  Like the removable throttle. ;)

You may want to ditch that super heavy battery for a Lithium Ion unit, if budget permits.

This is coming together nicely.  Keep it up!!
