Gentlemen,

This team has a lot of states to cover,  we still don't know if GZ will come from Kansas straight to the East or if there will be a detour  ;D to Michigan and the New England area the way it was in 2012.

Either way, we need to be ready and I will be raching out to riders near and far to help deliver the lizzard where he needs to go.

Please, bear with me, since this is the first time I am organizing GZ runs and also tolerate my every so often language hickups  :)

In all likelihood, KS. However, we have not done anything yet. We do have a few interested riders.

I bet some of us that made the trip to Marquette last year from OK and AR would be interested in a meet up at that rally again even if we are not bringing the beast with us.. I was a nice little rally if GZ gets there about the same time this year.

Does anyone know when this is coming into our area yet?  There seems to be less information than there was before.  I'm interested in meeting up somewhere in the mid-atlantic region, but I'm just starting my first engine rebuild and need to see if I can finish it on time.

Nobody knows. I think September or October if GZ has to get through New England first.

I would expect the route back to the East would be across the middle states all the way to the East coast, then swinging up through New England, and finally back Westward again picking up the Northern states and any Canadian provinces, wrapping up in the PNW. Last year came down through New England to wrap up on the East coast since we started on the "left" coast last year.  :o  ;D  8)

Wow... won't that be cold for the last leg back west?  Is Team 5 bringing GZ East, or are we taking GZ back west... or both - in which case I case we're like a big U-turn :)

What's your best guess on the time-frame for Team 5?
Also, is there a tentative route map somewhere like we had last year?  I found the team maps, but couldn't find any route maps.

I'm definitely excited about participating again this year, and I'm looking forward to meeting up with Prokop again.

Thanks!

I am glad you will be riding GZ again, Chris. I will not be late this time  :)

Will you have your project ready for the fall? I was positive I will have the K3F, but that was before I took the head apart.

I think all hand-offs are late :)  I was really late for the pick-up from BobbyR.

I'm not sure if my project will be ready for the trip.  It's been taking me a lot longer than I thought it would - I guess that's also pretty typical :)   ... but I am going to try and get her all back together before the relay.

If not, my orange bike is running great, so I'll I have a SOCH4 to ride either way.

What time-frame do you think GZ will come our way?

That's about the gist of it. We need more input from the North-East riders. I'll start a Team 6 thread for the U-turn...

You may need to take members from team 5 and split some of them into team 6 (or we could just keep team 5 as-is and we can be the U-turn team - which my be easier to coordinate).

I'm looking forward to a putting in a lot miles this year, so I'm up for helping connect those gaps in the map.

However, I'm unavailable from 8/17-8/31... so September/October works better for me... though I'm not sure if that is too late for the guys in Canada and the PNW (I suspect it starts to get pretty cold by then).

I'll also need to take time off from work to to anything more than a weekend ride.  I'm happy to take a few days off, but the more advance notice the better.  I'm sure everyone is the same boat.

Same here, I want to contribute more miles this year.  The problem is, when you look at the map, there is a gap west of Virginia and Virginia itself is fairly empty.

Oh, I meant no offense to the great state of Michigan, it was only about timing :)

I've been looking at the maps, and there are some riders on the team 1 map that should probably be included on the team 5 map. In fact, it maybe easier for goldarrow to relabel the existing team 5 map as team 6, and start a new map for team 5.
On the team 1 map, there are riders #16 and #36 in TN, rider #46 in GA, and rider #24 in SC.
We have 2 riders in MO, #37 and #61 that I didn't see on any map.

Ah... ok, I see the updated and new map... so team 5 will bring GZ east and team 6 will go north then back west.

Map 6 needs to be cleaned up a little. A few of us are on both the team 5 and team 6 maps (including myself).  Which ones of us should be in 5 vs 6?

Thanks

You should be team 5, unless you are planning on heading back west after GZ reaches Boston. The end of team 5 and the start of team 6 will be in Boston, so those guys are on both maps.
