My CB750 Project

Hello All
Well at last years Americade I saw a German guy on a fantastic 72 cb750 cafe racer and knew that was going to be my next project.
Scanned Craigs list for almost a year and then a (build date) 11/74  K I believe showed up 1 mile from my work. Guy said it started last year then this year flooded and would not start. $200 later its at my house , He delivered it !---some things I've found
With my hand held gromet type comp tester and using kick start I got around 140
on the outside cyl. Is that ok considering the tool and method.
Tank has no rust in it. Plugs are black with fuel.
Where do I start with the starter?, Is it possible he burned it out trying to start the bike.
Carbs off and I noticed that the I have three 8mm bolts on three carb slide arms and the last one ,#4,  has a phillips screw, so someone has been there before.
Comments and help with starte please.

That is normal for the carbs.  Really!   Start by looking at the oil, maybe change it. Check that the starter solenoid is working disconnect the lead that goes to the starter and with a freshLy charged battery turn the key and hit the start button. Keep the kill switch off save the points!  If the solenoid is not working when press the start button start checking where you have power and don't. If it does work the problem is in the starter. There is a lot of information here keep updating progress

Post some pics!

And yes there are three bolts and then a screw that is how it is supposed to be. The screw hole is even countersunk specifically for that screw and not a bolt. Still though, someone has been in them before I'm sure.

I tried to post pics but the site said they were too big.
How do I make pics smaller.
My bike has a fuel gage on the tank cap. Any source on hoe it works. It is missing the weight.

Ok.So I pulled the pan and oil pump. In the bottom of the pan was two tiny pieces of metal. Look lik if you cross threaded a bolt. the small thread pieces  Each about 5-6mm.
I had simular during an oil change many tears age on my 400/4 and no probs. What do you think???? :o
