Blowing Oil Leak Modification
« on: March 28, 2013, 05:31:20 AM »
My CB750 Supersport 1978 had an annoying oil leak that sprayed on my lower left leg. The motor is really freaky fast and various clues cause me to suspect it has a big bore kit from the previous owner. A thread on this forumn had an interesting mod for such a situation w/ kitted motors: simply drill a hole and JB Weld an additional breather thru a valve inspection cap and attach a hose to it. It was so ez to do, so I tried it. Much to my suprise and delight, it seems to have reduced the oil leak very significantly. Not 100% but now its more typical of stock motors and more cosmetic than anything.  Problem is, the new breather hose is dribbling oil; QUESTION: WHERE DO I DUMP IT??
I was thinking of adding a small catch-can that I can inspect and dump once in a while. Alternatives would be into the airbox (I use a K&N so it would oil the filter), or add a "T" to the oil tank breather and go that route. I do notice the oil puffing is milky so thats a consideration.
No doubt skeptics will chime in, but I was skeptical, too until I tried it.
