The only problem with bidding late is auctions that end at 8 am.  All you early
risers can have them.  I will settle for the ones that end at midnight.  ;D

I am not an early riser.  ;)

i have to bite my tounge terry - with temps here in saint louis up in the 100's and the power blown out for 5 days, i'm indulging in a little air conditioning just now...

i may have to put off buying your cooler and put my mutual funds towards the electricity bill!  ;D

cheers,
junkie out...

Hey do you guys in the US have "Ducted Cooling" CBJ? I was gonna get the house air-conditioned 4 years ago, but the cost here to run aircon was then approx $1.00 per hour to operate, but ducted cooling (using air drawn thru water soaked filters on your roof as opposed to refrigerated aircon) cost about 1 cent per hour? The thing I like with it is you have to leave your windows open a bit, and your doors too, so your house doesn't smell like a refrigerator? Good stuff! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I don't know what your humidity is like there, but in dry climates a swap coller works wonders. We used them in Las Vegas and had great results.

"Swamp Cooler"? I would have thought there'd be a high degree of humidity in and around a swamp, but there you go, oh well, for a cent or two an hour, I can live with that, ha ha! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Swamp coolers are the #$%*!!!!!!.......but,they will swell up woodwork in your home....but....they are way cheaper than running a central AC in your home........But,it just might be different depending on the humidity....I don't really know,I ran a swamp when I lived in Wyoming and I thought it cooled the place down just fine.....But......that's a long ways from the ocean.(But then on the other hand.......Theres warts!!!!!!) ..........just try n' stay cool!!!!!

maybe someone can explain the physiological reasons why a high humidity cooling apparatus does little to alleviate the discomfort caused by high humidity/high temp natural environments...

not me. all i know is they don't feel as good when the humidity is already 98% as it often is in the Southeastern U.S.

maybe i'll do some research. it's an interesting question anyway...

Well I don't think this is all that new CBJ, I was posted to Queensland for 2 years, and at times when supplies of VB (if you haven't tried it, it was best described recently by my son Tim, as "Jesus pissing in your face") were low it was so dry and dusty that I sometimes strayed from the true path of alcoholism and drank a vile liquid known only as XXXX which I'm sure contained at least 25 percent recycled effluent.

Don't even ask about Bundaberg Rum mate, I'm sure that stuff is pure liquid poo, I remember waking up in a flower bed naked, one lunch time, laying in a pool of my own vomit and wondering to myself what fiendish mind could concoct such an evil brew! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Swamp coolers work because they take moisture out of the air through evaporation. When a swamp cooler is used in high humidity areas it is less effective because there just isn't as much evaporation going on (the outside air is already saturated with moisture and can't take much more)

Think about when you are in a hot, but dry region and you sweat- it tend to evaporate much faster thus making you feel cooler, in the wonderful muggy south- you sweat and you stay wet- that is because the air already has so much moisture not a lot of evaporation is going on hence the annoying phrase- it's not the heat, it's the humidity

I'm thinking you meant to say they take heat out of the air through evaporation. ;)

They actually add moisture to the dry air.  I've been planning on buying one for my garage soon, but some punks broke into it last night and stole a bunch of my tools! >:( >:(  So now I have to spend what little money I have saved to replace them.  Hopefully I'll at least get something from the insurance claim. :'(

Wait a minute,
When I worked in the swamps of Florida/Alabama/Georgia I was never cool.

 >:(

Do swamp coolers attrack swamp things like alligators/bugs etc etc?

Terry,
do you make oil coolers for CB550's also?

Ebay bidding, please whenever you bid on my stuff, go as  high as possible
because I used recycled packaging,
ergo: good for the environment, well, sort of. ;D
peace,

man I better get a bid in on this one :D  some sucker is about to be had.  I was at our local motorcycle scrap yard today to get a few things and was looking at a side cover for my 550 and I swear I saw one of these for $45.
as far as bidding... I'll wait to the last second to bid on something I really want.  I've picked up several things this way at a decent price.  Sure I pissed someone off with my last second bid but thats the name of the game.

Unbelievable.

okay - last week, or so, i made a joke on this thread about mispelling during your Ebay search and finding things others miss...

well, i was joking around and said
Quote
oh and as far as Ebay goes, don't forget to occasionally misspell something...like "750"  Wink

and then yesterday i got this...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=110013385400&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

and didn't realize why until Klark Kent pointed it out...

Creepy almost...

came up in the 750 search from this site...
